Plot

For the transcript of this episode, see Sonic's Song/Transcript

A singer named Catty Carlisle is invited to the REBL studios by Mad Dog Max. Catty starts singing a song in a Texas style as she dedicates it to "Mobius' number one hero, Sonic".

Meanwhile, Scratch and Grounder are on a mission to capture Sonic by using a bear trap. As the two get distracted by a radio playing 'Sonic's Song', Sonic comes and makes fools of them and they get trapped instead. Scratch and Grounder go back to Robotnik and he gets upset that Catty is singing a song about Sonic. So Scratch and Grounder head to REBL studios and try to capture Catty but Sonic dresses as an interviewer and distracts the two by saying that they have just become instant stars on radio. As that happens, Robotnik decides on another plan by making only one song in the whole of Mobius that is Robotnik's anthem, so he creates the Music Destroyer (M.D.) to put an end to all other music. After he captures Catty, Sonic and Tails try to save her but end up being captured themselves. Sonic manages to trick Scratch and Grounder into freeing them and plays very loud rock music to destroy the M.D. Sonic returns Catty's guitar and she walks into the sunset with Sonic and Tails, singing Sonic's song.

Sonic Sez

Sonic teaches that music through headphones can affect your hearing, and also make you unaware of your surroundings.

(Tails is seen walking while listening to music, just as Scratch and Grounder are driving with a steamroller intending to flatten him.)

Scratch: "We'll flatten that flea-bag fox!" (Sonic suddenly appears and grabs Tails just as the steamroller gets close)

Grounder: "Where'd he go?" (Scratch and Grounder get out of the steamroller, looking around the front.)

Tails: "Thanks, Sonic!"

Sonic: "Music's great, Tails, but you got to be aware of your surroundings, too!"

Tails: "Huh? What did you say?"

Sonic: "Plus, it ruins your hearing if you play it too loud."

(Sonic drives the steamroller and ran over Scratch and Grounder, flattening them.)

Grounder: "We gotta fix that parking brake."

Sonic's Song lyrics

Sonic the Hedgehog
You can't catch what you can't see
Sonic the Hedgehog
He's gonna make Mobius free
He's a teenage fugitive on the run
Eating chili dogs by the ton.
No matter how frantic the chase becomes
There's always time to have some fun
The Badniks are going down
He's faster than the speed of sound

Trivia

  • The alternate name of this episode is "Sing It Again, Sonic".
  • Clips from this episode were used in "Hero of the Year".
  • Sonic's Song that Catty wrote is the game's theme music with added lyrics.
    • There are a few missing lyrics, since the second was talked over, not used often, or was not given a soundtrack release as well as the rest of the BGM for the Show.
  • When Sonic and Tails go into the room with all the stolen instruments, Sonic picks up a guitar and poses with it and says "Check out my Eddie Van Hedgehog Impression" which is a reference to Eddie Van Halen of the band, Van Halen.
