  • The cover artwork for this issue is a homage to the original Japanese box artworks of the first three Sonic the Hedgehog video games.
  • The comic's title, as well as the name of Eggman's new weapon in the story, are reference to the Sega Genesis console's original Japanese name, the Sega Mega Drive.
  • The subtitle is a homage to Sega's tagline in their US advertisements in the 90's.
