The cover artwork for this issue is a homage to the original Japanese box artworks of the first three Sonic the Hedgehog video games.
The comic's title, as well as the name of Eggman's new weapon in the story, are reference to the Sega Genesis console's original Japanese name, the Sega Mega Drive.
The subtitle is a homage to Sega's tagline in their US advertisements in the 90's.
