Sonic is an amiibo figure available in the third wave of amiibo figures. The figure is specifically based after Sonic the Hedgehog from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. It was released in February 2015 in North America. It can be used to get bonus features on various Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games.

|Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (Wii U version)||Will begin The Sonic League, where player plays against Sonic characters in events Beach volleyball, Boxing, Rugby Sevens and Table Tennis. Player can play only as Mii or Mario characters. Winning all 4 event tournaments grants player with Super Sonic costume set including headgear and outfit.|
