Sonic Advance is a 2D side-scrolling video game that plays virtually identical to the original game. To control their character, the player is given an in-game Controlpadds on the left and A and B buttons on the right.

New features[]

  • The game's resolution is improved from the original Game Boy Advance and now supports widescreen.
Sonic Advance Android Pause

The new Pause menu. The options are, from top to bottom: "Continue", "To the title", and "Options".

  • The pause menu has been completely updated and now contains the option to return to the main menu and to enter the settings menu, as opposed to the original game.
  • A new options menu is featured and has an instructions menu and a volume setting.
  • The player is now given the optional setting to move in the Special Stages by tilting the device.
  • A loading screen, containing several tips for the player, has been added in between levels.
  • The intro cutscene can now be skipped by pressing a button on the bottom left corner of the screen.

Changes[]

Trivia[]

  • The game features a number of bugs that depend on the device, with some users reporting normal game performance while others noting unbearable issues. This is possibly due to the game only being tested on a limited range of hardware. As a result, there have been reports of bugs such as extremely slow gameplay, terrible framerates, and the game locking up when the device goes into sleep mode.
