Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom is an endless runner platform video game published by Sega, exclusively for mobile devices, and is the sequel to Sonic Dash.[2] Unlike its predecessor, the cast and levels of Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom are derived from Sonic Boom television series, though the gameplay elements remain. The game was given a soft launch on Google Play on 1 July 2015 for the Android.
Gameplay
Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom uses many of the same gameplay elements from Sonic Dash. The game is an endless runner, where the player directs the playable characters through never-ending 3D levels, collecting rings and avoiding obstacles and enemies. The playable character automatically moves forward at all times, so the player has to utilize the characters' skills and movements to avoid or overcome obstacles. The goal is simply to run as far as possible without hitting a wall, falling off the course, or taking a hit with no Rings in possession.
Like its predecessors, Rings can be collected throughout the levels or purchased via microtransactions. Accumulated Rings can be used to purchase further content in the game, such as items and upgrades. Throughout the levels Red Star Rings can be found (only five can be found on the course per day); however, players can purchase them as well. They are used to buy new playable characters, as well as every fifth upgrade on a character.
Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom features both enemies and levels/environments taken directly from the Sonic Boom television series. As new features, the game introduces Team Play mode where the player gets to race with up to three characters and earn higher scores, the Enerbeam mechanic where tilting the device will swing the runner along Ener-Rails, and special unlockable powers for the characters such as Amy's Hammer, Knuckles' Jump Up & Slam attack, Sonic's enhanced Dash and more. The game also includes magical beings called "Sprites" which the player can collect and evolve to improve their run, similar to the Chao in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.[2]
Boom Boost
There is a special type of gameplay boost called the "Boom Boost" which works as follows:
- Shorten the cooldown times between free sprite boxes.
- Gives the player a free revive every run. It costs $1.99 for a week. The player can also win a Boom Boost as a rewards by collecting them from ddaily challenges as well as the challenges in normal gameplay.
When winning a Boom Boost, the player gets will get an hour added its total duration time. The first Boom Boost win will last one hour; after the player uses it up and then collect another one, it will last two hours; the next will last three hours etc. If the player does not let the Boom Boost run out, the next one will only add an hour to the total time the current Boom Boost is supposed to last.
Daily Challenges
The player can participate in new Events and Daily SEGA Challenges to earn special prizes.[2] The player will need an internet connection for this; the rest of the game can be played offline. Upon finishing the event, the player will enter a leaderboard where the top fifty players get extra prizes.

Other
Sprites
Sprites are magical beings and the companions for this game. One free sprite can be received every 8 hours (6 for players running a Boom Boost), or one can be bought immediately for 16 Red Star Rings, or less depending on how much longer one has to wait for their free sprite. Some are one-time use, or consumable. Others are permanent. Permanent sprites can be leveled up and evolved. Leveling up costs an increasing amount of rings. At levels 5 and 10, an evolution can be done. The first evolution needs to use up 2 permanent sprites and one consumable sprite. The second one demands 2 level 6 sprites and one consumable. The maximum level for a sprite is 15.
