Trivia
- A PlayStation 2 version was released in Japan and Europe, but the US version was never released for unknown reasons. The PS2 version is also region-locked so that it plays the original soundtrack of Sonic the Hedgehog CD on a Japanese system; if it detects another region (even European), it defaults to the American soundtrack, and there is no in-game music selection. This is not the case for the GameCube release, which may have been done to save space. However, the version of Sonic R in the GCN release supports four-players, which was reduced to two on PS2.
- SegaSonic the Hedgehog was also initially planned as a title to be included in this compilation but was left out due to problems with emulating the game's original trackball control scheme.
- Sonic Eraser was also initially planned, but did not for unknown reasons. Furthermore, three Mega Drive games from the Wonder Boy Series were also planned, but did not make it for unknown reasons.
- It is interesting to note that two of the games not included (Sonic Eraser and Monster World IV) have a different color for the "MD" Symbol (The original "MD" is pink\purple, while the other is orange\red). No one knows for sure why they have different colors, but some people believe it's because Sonic Eraser and Monster World IV were only released in Japan.
- Toot Toot Sonic Warrior was never officially released in America because of Sonic CD's music being remade and used for every US version. However, the original chorus for the words "Toot Toot Sonic" appear in museum mix Sonic After-6290 Mix.
- A few characters make cameos in the game, such as E-123 Omega and Cream.
- This is the second game that Metal Sonic appeared on its boxart. The first was Sonic CD, the third being Sonic Rivals 2, and the fourth was the Nintendo DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games.
- Vectorman 1 & 2, Streets of Rage 1-3, and Bonzana Bros. are the only non-Sonic games in the collection.
- The song Sonic 3 MegaD Mix (from the museum) was lucky enough to make it in the album, True Colors: The Best of Sonic The Hedgehog Part 2, unedited.
