Featured Articles are articles that have been recognised as the best on Sonic News Network.

After being chosen at Sonic News Network:Featured Article nominations, a summary of the article (usually based on the article's introductory paragraph) will be written out in the Current Featured Article section below and transcluded onto the Main Page of the wiki.

Following this, Featured Articles are tagged using Template:FA, which places a Master Emerald icon in the top right of the page, and listed below for posterity.

Criteria

Articles are nominated for Featured Article status at Sonic News Network:Featured Article nominations and by using Template:Nominated Featured Article. Featured Articles should follow the following rules:

1. It must have been written primarily by Sonic News Network users, and not copied directly from other sites, such as Wikipedia or Mobius Encyclopaedia.
2. It must be factually correct, with no false information, and it must have sufficient references to verify its accuracy.
3. It must be at least a few paragraphs in length, no stubs.

Shadow the Hedgehog

Shadow the Hedgehog (シャドウ・ザ・ヘッジホッグ, Shadō za Hejjihoggu^?) is the arch-rival of Sonic the Hedgehog. 50 years ago, he was created as the "Ultimate Lifeform" by Professor Gerald Robotnik using the DNA and blood of Black Doom. He resembles Sonic physically, but their personalities are very different: Shadow is a dark and brooding antihero, who can just as easily aid Sonic's enemies as his friends.

He first appeared in Sonic Adventure 2, and became so popular with fans that he was brought back from the dead for Sonic Heroes. His return (and much of his backstory) was a mystery until he starred in his own game, Shadow the Hedgehog. According to an official poll, Shadow is the second most popular character in the series, second only to Sonic himself... a result borne out by the results of SNN's own Sonic Character Tournament.
