Sonic Underground (1999) Theme Song

Opening sequence (click here)

"Sonic Underground" is the opening theme song of the television series of the same name. It was composed by Robbie London and Mike Piccirillo. It was performed by Michael Lanning and spoken by Queen Aleena's voice actress. The sequence was animated on-house by Andy Heyward's company, rather than Hong Ying Animation Studios as in the series.

Sequence[]

The sequence begins with an outer space view and the stars of the triplets' colors shine. Transition to the family's palace, the family is in Queen Aleena's bedroom. The queen's crown jewel shines, then the Oracle of Delphius reveals Robotnik in his cauldron. While it is storming at night, Aleena is seen separating her infant triplets via baskets, then appears over Robotropolis alone, crying and standing on a cliff overlooking the once-grand city. The triplets—now grown into teenagers—are fighting against the villains, using their medallions as weapons, blasting away SWATbots. Sleet hops the motorbike and a one-year-old Sonic wolfs down food. Sonic—now grown into a teenager—smells a chili dog and steps up to a pig chef working at a chili dog stand. Sonia (as a toddler, riding a tricycle) is riding her motorbike. Sonia jumps more higher in the air and Aleena cries. An infant Manic cries, but then crushes a bowl of cereal and a baby bottle to use as drums, with the fork and spoon as drumsticks. The utensils fly and morph into drumsticks. Manic—-now grown into a teenager—uses his drums to defeat a SWATbot. The villains were overpowered and the triplets are in stage to perform music. Aleena says that she is waiting for her children while the triplets (superimposed) are playing music. The triplets raise fists and magic is created. Again, the stars of the triplets' colors shine. At the end, the series' logo zooms out of a burst of light in a manner similar to the SatAM TV series logo.

Lyrics[]

Men: (Sonic) Triplets born, the throne awaits
A seer warns of a deadly fate
Give up your children, separate
Bide your time, lie in wait!
Sonic Underground (Sonic)
Sonic Underground (Sonic)
They made a vow, their mother will be found.
The children grow, learn what's right
Leaders of the freedom fight
They seek their mother, she knows they do
Is it time? If she only knew
Will the prophecy come true?
Sonic Underground (Sonic)
Sonic Underground
Queen Aleena: I long for my children, but I have to wait
To act too soon could seal their fate.
They made a vow, their mother will be found
Sonic Underground!
