Sonic Universe is a comic book set within Archie Comics's Sonic the Hedgehog continuity, designed to expand the horizon of that fictional universe. Sonic Universe will deal with various characters throughout the fictional universe, including Shadow the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna and many more. The first title arc is titled Living Weapons and features Shadow and Metal Sonic.
Sonic Universe is published monthly by Archie Comics alongside its parent title Sonic the Hedgehog. The first issue was released to comic book stores on February 25, 2009[1] and will fill the role of "second monthly Sonic comic" that will be left open by the cancellation of Sonic X.[2]

- This marks the first time in the Sonic Francise where Shadow and Blaze actually meet and interact with each other.
- Dr. Nega debuts (Though he only appears in the Flashbacks).
- G.U.N. retrieves a Chaos Emerald from the Sol Dimension.
- Hope Kintobor returns, and is shown to still be alive.
- E-102 Gamma is shown to still be alive.[3]
- E-123 Omega debuts.[4]
- This is the first time Omega and Gamma encounter each other.[5]

The Shadow Saga revolves around Shadow and the assembly of Team Dark, and Shadow's missions for G.U.N.
[edit] Mobius: 30 Years Later
Mobius: 30 Years Later is a continuation of Mobius: 25 years later, dealing with King Sonic and the assembly of the future freedom fighters, as they battle the Dark Presence, King Shadow, and Tikhaos.

Knuckles: The Return deals with Knuckles and the Chaotix working to save Angel Island and the Master Emerald from Dr. Finitevus.

Journey to the East focuses on Sonic, Tails, Princess Sally, and Monkey Khan battling the clans of the Iron Dominion.

[edit] Issue 1: Living Weapons (February 2009)
Shadow and Metal Sonic continue their series-spanning fight and wind up in a whole new dimension! And things are bound to heat up when Blaze the Cat and a Chaos Emerald enter the mix![6]
[edit] Issue 2: Time and Again (March 2009)
The second issue of the new, ever-expanding, all-encompassing series revolving around Sonic's many friends and foes, with continuity aligning with the regular monthly Sonic comic. It is the eve of Sonic's big confrontation with Dr. Robotnik, but Shadow and Rouge have other plans. As the three of them embark on a crucial midnight raid, readers will have the opportunity to simultaneously look back on a time when Sonic and Shadow weren't so friendly as they witness the lost tale of their battle for the ARK! It's déjà vu all over again as the present and past run parallel in this high-action tale![7]
[edit] Issue 3: Old Soldiers (April 2009)
Shadow is sent into the remote mountains to find E-102 Gamma. At the same time, Dr. Robotnik launches the over-powered E-123 Omega to hunt down and destroy the rogue robot! It's a race against time to see if Shadow can save Gamma and offer him asylum - if Gamma even wants to be saved! It's the latest installment of this exciting new series presenting unifying continuity while spotlighting the many characters from Sonic's various video games and animated series.[8]
[edit] Issue 4: The Ultimate Lifeform (May 2009)
The all-out battle-turned-alliance between Shadow and Rouge takes a new twist... and there may be no turning back! Transported from G.U.N.'s secret base to the surreal Special Zone, the reluctant allies meet the zone's mega-powerful master, Feist. What will Feist require of them? Can they successfully complete the challenge as well as their other missions and tasks for G.U.N.? What would failure mean to Shadow, who considers himself the "ultimate lifeform?" This action-packed issue co-stars Hope Kintobor and Omega, and features the first assembly of "Team Dark." It also paves the way for the next intriguing saga, which promises to bring back everyone's favorite red echidna![9]

By popular demand, we're going back to the future! It's now thirty years down the line and King Sonic is on the throne. He has his hands full with the tiny royal twins, but fan-favorite Lara-Su is there to help. As the world prepares to celebrate the new royal family, a deadly plot is hatched from the shadows...and you'll never guess who shows up at the end! It's the action and adventure you've come to expect from "Mobius: 25 Years Later" tales...not to mention all your favorite good guys and bad guys! The future has never been more frantic...and it's up to Sonic to make sure it's infinite![10]

The stakes are raised to pulse-pounding proportions! King Sonic has received dire news from Silver: something that will doom the future is right around the bend! Things go from bad to worse when Lien-Da and her Dark Presence invades the castle! Who will escape, and who will be the first to fall? All this, plus another surprise returning character revealed![11]

King Sonic has been evicted from his castle with only Lara-Su at his side! What's a deposed king to do? Gather up some Freedom Fighters, that's what! But who? And from where? This pulse-pounding tale allows readers to see some familiar faces as the Future Freedom Fighters assemble for the first time![12]

Our look at Mobius: 30 Years Later wraps up in this titanic issue! An unstoppable force threatens to destroy Angel Island and the world. It's up to a new generation of Freedom Fighters to save the day! Is this the triumphant return of the legendary heroes, or will their first mission be their last? By popular demand, Knuckles makes a triumphant return in this thrilling spin-off tale! Knuckles presses into the heart of the desert to find the sinister secrets of his hated enemy, Dr. Finitivus, but what he finds leads to a deeper mystery... and deadly danger! With Knuckles away, it's up to Vector to protect the Master Emerald from the newest threat... but who, or what, are they? This is it - the grand finale! Angel Island is about to be conquered, and our heroes are powerless to stop it, having been captured and at the mercy of the Dark Egg Legion! Will a last minute revelation save or doom our hapless heroes? It all ends with the fight you've been waiting for: Knuckles vs. Dr. Finitevus in a knock-down, drag-out, no holds barred ruckus! Don't miss the explosive final chapter to Knuckles' return to the spin-off scene![17]

Endless Reach of Fate": After a fierce battle with the Spider Ninjas, Sonic rescues Sally, Tails and Monkey Khan from the Gossamer Clan Cave in which they've been imprisoned. Things get introspective as Sally blames herself for the recent turn of events, but when they all meet the Bride of the Endless Reach, our heroes realize they are in the middle of a much bigger picture than they thought![18]
