Sonic Unleashed is a mobile phone game based on the console video game of the same name. The game was announced at E3 2009 and was later released on June of the same year in Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.[1] It contains eleven levels and retains Sonic's ability to transform into the Werehog. All the graphics come in sprite form making this game comparable to a common 2D platformer. Unlike the console versions, Sonic has the ability to go underwater without dying (but can still drown eventually), much like traditional 2D Sonic games.[2] The game received mixed to positive reviews.

Gameplay

The mobile version of Sonic Unleashed only features four stages divided into eleven acts:

  1. Chun-nan (3)
  2. Apotos (2)
  3. Spagonia (3)
  4. Mazuri (3)

Each second act is a Werehog act, except in Apotos whereby the first act is a combination of day and night scenes, in which Sonic transforms into the Werehog midway throughout the game; followed by the second act with Sonic in his normal self.

A boss fight occurs during the final act of each stage. The final act in Mazuri, the final stage, is a boss act. There is also a Time Attack mode where the player's goal is to try and break their best record.
