Sonic the Hedgehog: Sonic's Shoes Blues is a story book, written for children ages four-eight. It is set in the same continuity as Sonic the Hedgehog television series.

After a day of fighting off Dr. Robotnik's Swat-bots, Sonic the Hedgehog returns to the underground village of Knothole, where he discovers that he has forgotten to put on his favorite sneakers. Sonic desperately searches through his messy room, tossing various items (including Sega games, food, and even a partridge in a pear tree), while Antoine chides Sonic for his uncleanliness.

Frustrated, Sonic calls a meeting for the Freedom Fighters, suspecting that someone may have stolen his sneakers. After putting out the light for a minute so the thief would put the sneakers back, he re-lights, only to find a note from the Freedom Fighters, saying that if he doesn't trust them, they don't need him.

Elsewhere, outside of Robotropolis, the Freedom Fighters have started carrying a giant cork, with which to plug into the smokestack of Robotnik's factory. However, Tails accidentally hits a tripwire, trapping him in a cage while the rest of the group is snagged by a net. With Robotnik, the Swat-bots, and a Caterkiller approaching, Sonic arrives in the nick of time with "gifts" for the group, two of which are a bowling ball for Rotor Walrus and a pair of trimmers for Antoine. With clever thinking, he uses the trimmers to cut the net, and the resulting weight loss flings the cork into the smokestack, plugging it. Robotnik retreats, and the group returns to Knothole.

Back home, Sonic explains that while cleaning his room (actually putting most of his junk under a blanket, much to Antoine's annoyance), he finally found his sneakers under his bed.
