Extreme Boarding LCD

The Sonic the Hedgehog Extreme Boarding game from McDonald's.

Sonic the Hedgehog Extreme Boarding is an LCD game distributed by the McDonald's chain of fast food restaurants. The game was available as a Happy Meal toy for a limited time in 2004. This particular game was released under two names, the second name being Sonic Skateboard.

Gameplay[]

There are two main buttons on the game which control left and right movement. The game is a recreation of Sonic the Hedgehog 2's Special Stage as the player moves forward avoiding obstacles. There are seven lanes that can be moved between, 4 are always free of obstacles, the two lanes on the edges will have Rings which can be collected. Sonic can jump up to them but he will fall back down after a short amount of time. This can be used to avoid obstacles if timed properly. If Sonic misses a Ring, then another will appear on the same side that he missed the previous ring on. The other three lanes will have obstacles in them. Sonic has five HP. Hitting an obstacle reduces his HP by one. Every 20 Rings collected will heal Sonic to full HP and speed up the level. After collecting 100 Rings total a victory screen will appear, play a jingle, and turn off the game. Pressing either button will start Level 2. Level 2 is identical to Level 1 except the obstacles are placed differently.

Sonic Skateboard[]
