Don't stand under Spike Traps or you could get skewered! There are no spikes on top, though, so you're safe up there.

Omochao, Sonic Generations (console/PC)[1]

The Spike Trap[1][2] is an obstacle that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a variant of the Weight with spikes on the bottom.

Description[]

The Spike Traps have the same basic appearance as the Weights, which is a large, rectangular metallic block with a red line along its edges. Unlike the Weights, however, they have spikes on their bottom surface.

The Spike Traps move up and down automatically in intervals. Some of them fall down instantly while others take their time. When they are about to fall, the red outline on them flashes. Filling the role of obstacles, the player will take damage should the Spike Traps fall down on Sonic or if their spikes touches him, though they will not make the player lose a life like the Crushers. Alternatively, the player can climb on top of Spike Traps as they rise, which makes them work like rising and falling platforms.

Game appearances[]

Sonic Unleashed[]

In the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed, Spike Traps appear in outfits that resemble the environment that they are in. Sometimes the ground itself rise up to them.

Sonic Colors[]

In the Wii version of Sonic Colors, and the remaster Sonic Colors: Ultimate, Spike Traps appear in the Sonic Simulator, where they keep moving slowly toward the player when they are in front of them. In this game, they are in horizontal form.

Sonic Generations[]

In the console/PC version of Sonic Generations, Spike Traps are large metallic obstacles that appear in Rooftop Run. The work the same as they did in past games.
