The Sprint is a recurring move used by Team Sonic in the Sonic Boom video games. When performing this technique, the user accelerates to high speeds.

Description

When performing Sprint, the user starts running at noticeably higher speeds that they would not usually be able to reach otherwise. While moving at such speeds, the user leaves a color trail in their wake. The Sprint is a vital move for clearing levels in record time.

Game appearances

The Sprint made its first appearance in Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. In this game, the move's color trail depends on the character: Sonic's trail is blue, Tails' is yellow, Knuckles' is red and Sticks' is orange. To use Sprint in gameplay, the player has to press Snnwiidsybuttondisco while moving; for as long as that button is held, Sprint will be used.

Unlocking the Mega Sprint upgrade adds a purple aura in front of the characters and allows them to destroy enemies by Sprinting through them, regardless of shields.

In Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, the Sprint is usable to Amy Rose for the first time, along with the Bot Racers during Bot Racing. In this game, its color trail depends on whether Fire Mode or Ice Mode is active; in Fire Mode the trail is red and orange, and in Ice Mode it is blue and white. Like in Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, the player has to press Snnwiidsybuttondisco while moving to use Sprint in gameplay; for as long as that button is held, Sprint will be used.
