Spy Bot,[2] also referred to as Fly Bot,[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic Boom television series. It is a mass-produced, fly-based robot model created by Dr. Eggman for surveillance and video recording.

Appearance

The Spy Bots possess a black, spherical body with a grey underbelly and a grey cap on each side of their body where a transparent wing is attached. They also have large red and glassy eyes, stubby spikes around their face, four small insectoid legs, and two thin arms with scissor-like claws.

History

Season one

A trio of Spy Bots.

The Spy Bots would primarily spy on Team Sonic's activities to find anything for Dr. Eggman to use against them.[1] One time, one caught Tails' unveiling of UT.[3] A trio of Spy Bots would also be erased from existence by Eggman's Doomsday Devices.[4] During one of its outings, a Spy Bot was fitted with a video loop by Tails which Team Sonic used to lure Eggman into a prank. When the Lightning Bolt Society fumbled around in Eggman's lair soon after, a Spy Bot was sent to attack the Unnamed Village (where it was destroyed) while another spied on Team Sonic and Eggman, the latter of which Eggman gave misinformation so he and Sonic could sneak up on the Lightning Bolt Society.[1]

A Spy Bot would be sent to spy on the Lightning Bolt Society. Through it, Eggman learned the Village was vulnerable to attack at the time.[5] The robot would also discover Sonic and Knuckles' participation in Bro-Down Showdown.[6]

A Spy Bot spying on Sonic and Tails.

While spying near Sonic's Shack for Eggman, a Spy Bot caught Tails trying to catch Sonic as a part of a bet.[7] A Spy Bot would later observe Team Sonic in the jungle for Eggman. Arriving to trap the heroes, Eggman bragged about the (poor) camouflage Spy Bot used to spy on the team.[2] Not long after, a Spy Bot got a shot of Team Sonic playing around with a new pet of theirs, making Eggman feel left out.[8] A Spy Bot would also spy on Sonic for Eggman while the former dealt with a widabit problem.[9] Eggman soon after used a Spy Bot to keep tabs on Orbot and Cubot while they planted FleaBots on Team Sonic.[10]

Personality

In the likeness of organic flies, Spy Bots are attracted to robotic litter.[4]

Powers and abilities

Spy Bots are capable of precision flight and can perceive heat signatures.[2][3] They can also record everything they see and send it back as a live video feed to Dr. Eggman's Lair.[3] As Eggman robots, the Spy Bots are also able to receive power remotely from Eggman's lair.[11]

Weakness

Being Eggman robots, the Spy Bots rely on Eggman's lair to provide them with power. As such, should the lair run out of power, then they will too.[11]
