Template:Item The Tails Vent, also called the Air Vent, is a gimmick that appear in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. It is a large fan that Miles "Tails" Prower can use to ride updrafts.
Description
The Tails Vent is basically a wide fan located on the ground, creating a updraft of wind going straight up. Its appearance differs between each game: in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric it has a thick yellow and black-striped plating surrounding the fan, while in Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal it lacks the outer plating and only has a grid protecting it.
The Tails Vent serves as a way for the player to reach higher areas in the areas using Tails' specific character abilities. Using Tails' Hover technique above these vents will cause Tails to rise far higher into the air than he can get by jumping, allowing the player to reach places high above or otherwise out of the player's reach. Moving away from the Tails Vent will cause Tails to descend again though. In Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, some Tails Vents also move around or are required to be activated by a puzzle.
