No proof its a real enemy?!
those robots are all over the entire game! (sonic adventure 2 and the remake) just google it. you'll get a picture of knucles near one in his first level.
you can search for guides about locations of this robots because they are very helpful for getting A ranks. Killing one will give 1000 points, not an awesome.

the beetles are the flying bots, that have nothing exept a red eye and are roundish. some have weapons and wings that have lights on both sides.
another one can be found in city escape, after the first long rail thing, which at its end has a ramp. in the top you will find a chao box, a bumper and this bot.
they are the ones that apear and and then disapear.
I think Gold Bettles also appear in Shadow the Hedgehog at the end of some Mono Bettle chains. Myself 123 22:03, January 1, 2013 (UTC)
