The rules say that non-Sonic characters only get pages if they have two playable appearances with Sonic. Sonic and Mega Man met in comics, not games. However, Mega Man and Sonic did have main character roles in the Worlds Collide series which lasted for more than two issues. How will comic crossovers be implemented in the rules? SeanWheeler (talk) 02:20, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

Well considering that this is a comic and not a video game, I can only assume that a

comic book appearance counts as a video game appearance.  Splash the Otter   C  E  11:30, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

While it is Archie associated, there have been Archie Sonic crossovers before, and we have not devoted pages to characters with special appearances within the comic. Judging by this, a decision should be made to include pages for all crossover characters, or remove this Mega Man page from the wiki entirely. Serious Sam Minigun icon Heavy 12:21, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

If we remove this page, it would also mean removing the pages of all the other Mega Man characters who appeared in the comic series, which I'm sure will result in huge disappointment. I would say it's far too late to act upon the crossover rule and dispose of everything now. The series lasted for more than two issues after all, so I would be fine keeping this page and all the rest. THE REFLEX dancing on the valentine 12:45, April 12, 2013 (UTC)
Should we have an article on Wreck-It Ralph since he had two major appearances with Sonic: his own movie and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed? SeanWheeler (talk) 13:27, April 12, 2013 (UTC)
Going a bit off the topic of Mega Man, never mind. Since that is indeed true, I would have no objection to a Wreck-It Ralph page, although I would like to see what others have to say. THE REFLEX dancing on the valentine 13:29, April 12, 2013 (UTC)
No. In the movie Wreck-it-Raplh, Sonic made a mere cameo appearance, mentioned on the Cameos article. Ralph only made one appearance in regards to the Sonic series.
You know what? I'm sick of what this wiki calls necessary and what it doesn't call necessary. This is ridiculous. I know Sonic's appearance alongside Wreck-It Ralph in the film was just a cameo, and vice versa in Transformed, but why does anyone care? He's already mentioned on the Sonic Cameos page, but what's wrong with making exceptions? It's the biggest cameo Sonic has had, it should count as an appearance. I can't see any purpose for not having this page. THE REFLEX dancing on the valentine 13:47, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

@Solace: Isn't that heavily biased reasoning, that people would be disappointed of it was removed? How about putting it to a vote? Serious Sam Minigun icon Heavy 13:31, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

The disappointment would mainly come from the creators of the pages, and I know at least two users who worked very hard on them. But that's not the only reason; I just think they're fine because this character and the others are quite major, and at this stage, it's not worth getting rid of the pages. Yes, put it to a vote if you like. THE REFLEX dancing on the valentine 13:36, April 12, 2013 (UTC)
If that's the case, then I'd advise we also consider possibly adding pages for other crossover characters. That is, if they're also considered major. Serious Sam Minigun icon Heavy 13:40, April 12, 2013 (UTC)
In my oppinion, these articles can be kept, as long as we keep their contents restricted to the Worlds Collide arc, the time were the Mega Man characters are involved with the Sonic charactersUltrasonic9000 (talk) 16:22, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

I thought we'd already had this discussion. Haven't we changed the rule so that it's 2 playable appearances in a Sonic game or 2 appearances in a Sonic comic/TV show? -- Supermorff (talk) 16:41, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

No, we haven't, according to our policy:

This is primarily a Sonic wiki, but we permit a small number of non-Sonic characters to have pages. Such characters must have appeared as a playable character in at least two games in which Sonic was a main character. This includes crossover games, but excludes games in which Sonic merely made cameo appearances.

Nothing is said about comics, TV shows, or other media. I was going to wait a while before making a site discussion about this. Twinkle Snow Unleash Christmas 201317:42, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

The Toad article is back. Toad has been deleted several times for not having a playable appearance with Sonic. He still isn't playable in any Sonic games (only Mario games where Sonic doesn't even have a cameo). Mega Man wasn't playable in Sonic games, so if we change the rules so that non-Sonic characters can have 2 appearances with Sonic and not necessarily be playable, every Nintendo character in the Mario and Sonic series would have an article. SeanWheeler (talk) 18:41, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

If nothing changed in regards to the non-Sonic policy, then what was the point of This forum? Myself 123 19:18, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

Not sure whether or not someone said this, but Mega Man characters are going to appear for more than twelve issues in the Archie Comics. Sean, I would like for you to look take a look at this. We went over this already. There will be Mega Man pages on this wiki in order to help the wiki have a better understanding upon the Worlds Collide event. Without the Mega Man pages, the whole crossover event in this wiki is completely even pointless to put on here. Like I said, take a look on that link I gave you above. BlueSpeeder (talk) 21:40, April 12, 2013 (UTC)
I think saying that the crossover would be pointless to mention is a massive exaggeration, as the wiki is able to mention Sonic's appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl without having seventy-odd pages for each character. Myself 123 21:51, April 12, 2013 (UTC)
So we agreed to change the policy to accommodate Mega Man characters and then forgot/neglected to actually change the policy? Whoops. Someone change it please. -- Supermorff (talk) 22:14, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

I didn't read the forum because it had been a while since I've been to SNN. Glad someone told me about it. SeanWheeler (talk) 22:29, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

The article needs to be edited because the character index and promotional artwork picture cut into each other and the character info template. Perhaps the character info template needs to be shrunk down, or the information added to?--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 22:44, July 6, 2013 (UTC)

Comics vs Video Games[]

Here's an interesting question that's come to mind. This article is currently exclusively about the comic book version of Mega Man, as we're all aware. However, this might cause some confusion because we made no specifications over the matter. Mega Man will also be appearing in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U/3DS, and depending on Sonic's inclusion could require some alterations. Should we specify this character is the Mega Man from the comics, or should we make it an amalgamation article for multiple medias?--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 11:36, July 7, 2013 (UTC)

The policy for crossover video game characters is that they need to be playable twice with Sonic. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS would only count as one, since even though it is on two consoles, it is still one game (Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games was on both Wii and DS, and were drasticly different, but we weren't allowed a Bowser Jr. article until Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games) If we can keep this article, I guess we can mention his appearance in Super Smash Bros. if Sonic stays in. Sega not including Mario in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing and its sequel to "avoid cross-contaminating with the Mario & Sonic series" made me doubt Sonic being in Super Smash Bros. 4, although Sega had a deal with Nintendo to make three Sonic games, only two were revealed: Sonic Lost World and Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games and the third was unknown. Since Super Smash Bros 4 was revealed at E3 around the same time as Sonic Lost World and Mario & Sonic, people think that is going to be the third Nintendo Sonic game. Although Nintendo stated that they would limit the use of third-party characters, but Sonic just barely made it to Brawl because of popular demand, and Sonic was my preferred Brawl character, and people are already putting Sonic characters on their SSB4 wishlists. If Sonic gets confirmed for SSB4, then we will have to update the articles for Mario, Donkey Kong, and Bowser and create articles for Link, Samus Aran, Kirby, Fox McCloud, Pit, and Pikachu plus any other veteran that's confirmed other than Pichu, Dr. Mario, Young Link, Mewtwo, and Roy because they didn't return in Brawl with Sonic. But I don't know the fate of the Mega Man articles. Would we count major roles in comics with Sonic as playable appearances? The cover of the Worlds Collide prelude had what looks like a character selection screen with Sonic, Mega Man, Tails, Break Man, Blaze, and a fat robot. But if you read a Spider-Man comic, you're not playing as Spider-Man, you're just reading about him. I don't really know the fate of the Mega Man articles, nor do I know if Sonic or his friends would be in SSB4. If Sonic would be in SSB4, then I would want Mario in the next Sonic & All-Stars Racing game. SeanWheeler (talk) 03:22, July 8, 2013 (UTC)

Now that Sonic was confirmed for Super Smash bros. 4, can we mention Super Smash Bros. on this page? SeanWheeler (talk) 20:11, October 2, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, it's on the section called "Other meetings between Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog", which I transfered from trivia. Antiyonder (talk) 20:14, October 2, 2013 (UTC)

I don't have the comic myself, so...[]

Might be hearsay or it might be true, but apparently Mega Man cameoed in Archie Sonic Super Special Issue 10. Just something for anyone with the comic and a scanner to look for. Antiyonder (talk) 14:11, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

Game vs Comics[]

Since there is gonna be a Mega Man for both the games and the comics, how about we do like Sonic and split it into two articles: Something like "Mega Man" and "Mega Man (Archie)"? I mean, otherwise we would mix information together.Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 17:59, September 6, 2014 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind that at all. Your only problem is the "crossover" rule. >> - BlueSpeeder (talk) 19:25, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
I know, but what other alternative is there? Mixed information is not good either; concepts merging together, personalities left out, unfitting history... Maybe we should take up an discussion about this.Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 19:56, September 6, 2014 (UTC)
