Wait, what?![]

Is it true Tails was originally to be a female character, as a love interest for Sonic?! GROSS--Bandicootfan63 (talk) 22:51, January 3, 2013 (UTC)Crash Man

No; it was going to be Madonna. SilverPlays97 (Wall) (Contributions) 22:53, January 3, 2013 (UTC)
I've never heard of that either, where did you hear that? Myself 123 22:58, January 3, 2013 (UTC)
That's not even ture at all. O_O weird, Tails10546 (talk) 22:11, January 27, 2013 (UTC)
I beilieve the rumor was derived from the Game Gear Sonic 2. In this Tails is kidnapped in the begining much as many damsels were in games made in that time, Tails also only blinks with one eye so it looks like he's winking  which was commonly acociated with females at the time. His name is also not given for most of the game. Through this players who never played the Genisis Sonic 2 were led to believe that Tails was a female fox and Sonics love intrest. This Rumor spiraled out of control  when the concepts for madona and Tiara were released publicly and now many gamers believe that tails was one of the many early ideas for sonics love intrest that ended up redisigned into a male sidekick in the final cut. The myth was never suported by anything other than conjecture from the Game Gears Sonic 2 game.  I'd like to work that into some part of tails's page but I'm not sure if it would count as part of the characters reception.Neko Vira (talk) 20:37, February 9, 2013 (UTC)
Unless you can find reliable sources, that sounds very much like speculation and original research. -- Supermorff (talk) 10:50, February 10, 2013 (UTC)

Is Tails really very ticklish? In the games, I've never seen him being tickled so I don't really know if he is ticklish or not. David Bear (talk) 14:57, May 8, 2013 (UTC)

Grazhero99 (talk) 06:56, October 25, 2013 (UTC) where do people get the idea that tails is 12 (in the games)?

@Bandicootfan63 It always felt like a lame headcanon just because Tails is cute.

There are fans who are way too hasty that they does a lot of theories without searching first.

Personality change[]

I noticed something about Tails' personality I wanted to bring up.

At the beginning of Sonic Chronicles, if you talk to Rouge before meeting Tails, she'll say that she won't let you pass without having Tails with you. If Sonic chooses to ask why, she'll say that this is "Tails' show" and that he has learned a lot in Sonic's absence. If you then talk to Tails, he'll say that he has had to learn to do some things for himself since Sonic left, and it has made him feel more independent.

I then noticed that in most console games since then, this also holds true. In Unleashed, Colors, Generations and especially Lost World, Tails seems to be acting on an equal level with Sonic, unlike in previous games as a sidekick. In Colors, Tails spends the game working on his translator in order to give Sonic information on what to do. He sometimes will not pay attention to what Sonic is doing while he is working, and even corrects Sonic when he feels that Sonic is downplaying his contributions. In Lost World, Tails shows moer confidence than in any other game. He boasts about his achievements at the beginning of the game, creates a fierce rivalry with Eggman (and outshines him), and gets into a heated argument with Sonic, three things that the Tails from before Chronicles wouldn't do.

It's really cool to see this confidence boost in Tails, and to see character development that spans multiple games.

Just Like 18th US President[]

As revealed in "Tails' New Home," Tails doesn't like, in fact, hates, his real name: Miles. That's pretty much like President Ulysses S. Grant. The case is that Ulysses was really his middle name, the first being Hiram, but the problem was what the name looks like as an abbreviation. He didn't like it. One day, someone else came up with "Ulysses" being his first name, and his middle name being "Simpson." That was an accident, but he liked it anyway. He liked it too much to bother correcting it, so he'd been known that way since. Of course, that's different with Sonic deliberately coming up with "Tails" as the fox's alias. How's that for a trivial comparison? Interstate2011 (talk) 22:14, February 15, 2017 (UTC)

Is it that uncommon for someone to not like their first name? Comparison seems too thin to me. I should also point out that this would only apply to the AoStH version of the character. Myself 123 23:20, February 15, 2017 (UTC)

Gunner Outfit[]

Anybody know what the blaster is that the Tails outfit for Mii Gunner is? Or is it completely new and hasn't appeared in a Sonic game? Iqskirby (talk) 00:04, April 22, 2017 (UTC)

I don't recognise it, looks original. Myself 123 00:14, April 22, 2017 (UTC)

Tails never calls Eggman as Robotnik[]

If you put up the original audio, you'll notice that Tails is clearly calling Classic Eggman by his japanese name in Sonic Generations and Classic Eggman doesn't really correct claiming "They don't call me like that anymore".

In a similar issue seem in Sonic Adventure japanese conversation, Eggman doesn't correct Sonic and Tails, neither claim that he is actually "Dr. Robotnik."

Which means the whole talk of "Eggman" being a "nickname" is just fruit of the localization and not really canon.

Ousted Character from Underground?[]

So lemme ask this question; is Tails the only character not feature in "Sonic Underground"? Or did I fail to see that there were also lacked any evidence of Amy Rose in that series? Just curiously... FredCat 14:41, January 9, 2018 (UTC)

Yes. It shows that Tails never appeared in the Sonic Underground series. PenBlogoA 14:45, January 9, 2018 (UTC)
Ok, but what about Amy Rose? Don't think Sonia would just cover her spot - after all, that Sonia is eggplant-purple hedgehog with hot pink hair, living through the rich life, and has strength to crack the planet like you have to crack the egg for the cooking of the meal. Amy's completely opposite to this girl, to be honest. FredCat 17:14, January 9, 2018 (UTC)
Also, show me that she existed somewhere in Sonic Underground if you may please. And no, I am not saying you're wrong - I just wanted to correcting the fact that Tails is not, I repeat, NOT the only main SEGA character to not showing up in Sonic Underground. Yes, Sonic showed up there, so is Knuckles. But... I guess you got the draft by now. FredCat 17:18, January 9, 2018 (UTC)
Do you have a proof that Amy existed in Sonic Underground? If yes, then please provide a source. If not, then it's baloney. PenBlogoA 18:00, January 9, 2018 (UTC)
There are no proof that she's existing in Sonic Underground. And that's why I asked. I just want to add the fact that Tails is not the only SEGA character to be missing out - it's more of Tails being one of two SEGA characters missing out in Sonic Underground, other being Amy Rose. FredCat 18:16, January 9, 2018 (UTC)
Ok, cool. That's fine. That's the whole point of why I posted this topic. Thank you for taking a note on that article. That's all. FredCat 19:07, January 9, 2018 (UTC)
You misunderstand, the trivia does not say "Tails is the only not included in Sonic Underground" it says it's only cartoon he hasn't appeared in. This is true as he appeared in AoStH, SatAM, Sonic X, and now Sonic Boom. Myself 123 19:20, January 9, 2018 (UTC)
I see now. Perhaps should had included "...only cartoon that Tails was not ever..." instead. So yes, I misunderstood that because of one missing word, or I must be that bad with the grammar. But again, if you think that the grammar in there is correct, then that's ok - I have no complain about this. That's just bothering me about him being the only character, not the part of him not appearing in the cartoon. FredCat 20:04, January 9, 2018 (UTC)
While I do not see your confusion, the sentence is poorly written. Myself 123 20:25, January 9, 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, that's the whole point. Sorry for clutching it with PenBird into something else. FredCat 20:44, January 9, 2018 (UTC)

Former Gender[]

It's possible that he was originally going to be a female. Nalasimba4ever, 14:47, December 6, 2019 (UTC) Nalasimba4ever (talk) 22:48, December 6, 2019 (UTC)

True, it was in Japan's "lost in translation". As mentioned in the above thread, Tails got cubnapped in one of Gear games; Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It's just an echo to Mario's "Super Mario 64" on Nintendo 64. FredCat 23:21, December 6, 2019 (UTC)
According to Yasushi Yamaguchi, Tails was always intended to be a boy. [1] --IndigoPengi (talk) 01:07, December 7, 2019 (UTC)

Tails seem too tall to even be considered a cub[]

The Wiki article says he's a young anthropomorphic fox cub, Although the young part is kind of correct as he's 8 in human years. The cub part is not....He looks to tall to be even considered a cub, so I wanted to change one part of this.

And to make it worse, Cubs are smaller than Adults. LeoGames2012 (talk) 11:47, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

Problem with the growth spurt? The fox developed faster than other animals, so what? FredCat 12:51, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
Tails may have problems with it but it isn't even confirmed, As I said, The wiki calls tails a cub, but he´s too tall to be even considered a cub. I know Fox developed faster than other animals but classifying him as a cub is not a correct way to say, He´s only young, but not a cub. LeoGames2012 (talk) 13:19, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
Once again, don't treat him as an animal, but as Animal People. I mean, look at Mutt in Pre-SGW timeline, that's a dog. And Mutt in Post-SGW, that's MOBIAN.
Tails here is NEITHER, and is considered an "Animal People". He's kid no matter what you're saying. End of the Discussion! FredCat 13:48, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
Just because he is considered "Animal People" doesn't mean I cannot say he is too tall for a cub! I meant that Tails seems too tall to even be considered as a cub. Even if he's a kid in human years, he would be an adult in animal years if we count that. I understand Muttski became a mobian during SGW but...this is different story. LeoGames2012 (talk) 15:07, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
Well, join the club. Or at least join SEGA's team and help them out to correct Tails' height. The Animal People considered full grow-up by the time they reached 5 years old. And look at the animal in real life, frequently they had to survive on their own before they even reached 5 years old, in case of the cats and dogs. FredCat 15:10, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
