Cheats

I don't think they would be good here. But, while they're here, I might as well inquire about how "debug mode" actually works, on this game and Sonic 2 (I want to know how to start Sonic 2's debug as well, by the way, not that I want to cheat, but this "debug mode" thing caught my attention).--Akamia(Talk)(Want to see what I've been doing?) 23:11, November 18, 2009 (UTC)

cheats!

why dont we put the codes for the ports(dreamcast,ps2,xbox,psp,gba,360,all the rest)no one really still has a mega drive that works.do they

I do, but if you want to add cheats for the ports then you can. -- Supermorff 15:11, December 12, 2009 (UTC)

I've still got mine too, except I'm American so I call it Genesis.Sonictoast 15:24, December 12, 2009 (UTC)

Extra lives in special stages

I saw a video showing some special stage items that weren't used. They were found by going in to debug mode, going out of the bounds and then exiting debug mode. This would result in finding some unused special stage items including a circle with an image of sonic on it (probably an extra life). This may be why the us manual states that 1-ups can be found in special stages. Here is the video: Pokeboy93 19:15, November 18, 2010 (UTC)Pokeboy93

16-bit

Wouldn't it make more sense to call it Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit) rather than Sonic the Hedgehog (1991), given that both games were released in 1991? LinkTheLefty (talk) 15:03, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

Wow, I'm answering a late comment. That's what I've always thought as well though the redirect has already being edited and thus we can't really move it until an admin does it. The Passionate Musician 05:34, January 5, 2015 (UTC)

Actually, now that I think of conciseness with regards to titles, I was thinking of maybe "Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit video game)"? The Passionate Musician 23:16, January 24, 2015 (UTC)

It used to be at "Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit)", but it was moved here since 99% of the time when referring to a Sonic game in 1991 you mean this one, not the 8-bit version. A longer parenthetical is not necessary. -- Supermorff (talk) 08:52, January 25, 2015 (UTC)

Was the decision to move it from Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit) that from a past discussion? Even then, having (1991) can be slightly ambiguous (given the list of things named Sonic the Hedgehog) as by looking at its name, it could refer to the entire franchise or the character at that year. (The same could be said for Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) and Sonic the Hedgehog (2013).) So having a "longer parenthetical" can be made more precise so that readers are aware of what they are looking at (but then again, I was influenced by Wikipedia just to make that statement and also understanding that this place shouldn't be entirely influenced by Wikipedia styles, but a kick of professionalism doesn't hurt much). The Passionate Musician 00:27, January 26, 2015 (UTC)

I don't know. I assume there was a discussion, but I don't know where you'd find it now. -- Supermorff (talk) 20:04, January 27, 2015 (UTC)
