Tart Turtle (タータ＝タルトル Tāta tarutoru?) is the first boss of Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble that appears in the Great Turquoise Zone Act 3. Tart Turtle takes eight hits to defeat it and it was created by Dr. Robotnik.
Tart Turtle is a robotic sea turtle that is mostly blue and burnt-yellow. It has blue and red jet-propellers that allow it to ascend/descend above the ground. Its face is gray and black.
The player, who controls either Sonic the Hedgehog or Miles "Tails" Prower, starts off in Act 3. The player heads right, and when the player reaches the dead end, he/she must jump to reveal hidden passageway under the hill. The player will head to the right of shallow water until he/she encounters Tart Turtle, who starts flying around above the shallow water. The player can easily hit him without any problem.
After four hits, Tart Turtle will rise to the outside arena above the lower cave. After this, regular Bane Motora-looking Badniks with springs on their shells start arrive to cave, which the player has to use to get to the outside arena. After this, Tart Turtle starts summon Bane Motora Badniks to charge into the player, while the Tart Turtle flies higher than on previous time. The player needs to get bounced by smaller Badniks' springs for getting high enough to damage Tart Turtle. However, the player becomes vulnerable in the mid-air. The only way the player's is able to hit properly is to perform Flying Spin Attack below the Tart Turtle. If the player keeps doing this technique another four times, the Tart Turtle will fall and crash to the hill. After clearing the act, the player runs and confronts Knuckles, who activates the switch to ignite the place on fire.
