The Wave Cyclone is Tails's first invention in Sonic Rush Adventure, but what did he name it after? Did he name it after the waves of the ocean? Or did he name it after his rival Wave the Swallow?
The Wave Cyclone is Tails's first invention in Sonic Rush Adventure, but what did he name it after? Did he name it after the waves of the ocean? Or did he name it after his rival Wave the Swallow?
Point is, she's not that insignificant to him
I know the vessels have a naming scheme but is it coincidence the first water term he picked is the same name as his rival?
Only in the Riders series. Outside of that, Wave is a pretty insignificant character. Again I ask why would he name a vehicle after a rival anyway?
Well the Riders series is still in continuity anyway. Isn't it? (Metal Sonic finally has his rematch with Sonic as promised in Heroes) Also, as mentioned above, Tails seems to like Wave, despite her not liking him as much he views her as something of a friendly rival, he tries to help her get up when she is knocked to the ground by SCR-HD, and whether he wins or loses the competition in Free Riders, he says her Gear is "amazing as ever"
Actually, Sonic and Metal fought prior to Free Riders. Sure the series is canon, but it's a side series and not all that significant to the series as a whole and Wave is not that significant to Tails especially when you consider other characters Tails knows. Naming a vessel after an unimportant character such as Wave doesn't make much sense, especially considering they're rivals and not friends.
I think Tails wants to get along better with her but she doesn't seem to want to. In any event the first water term he named his vessel after is the same name as his rival, he probably remembers her as well as Sonic remembers Jet.
When did Sonic and Metal Sonic fight between Sonic Heroes and Sonic Free Riders? If you're talking about the Sonic Rivals series, how do we know the Sonic Riders games aren't chronologically back-to-back? Sonic Rivals was released before Sonic Rush Adventure yet it's clearly after since Eggman and Eggman Nega are allies in Rush Adventure and enemies in Rivals, presumably falling out when Eggman opposes Eggman Nega's final move in Rush Adventure
Anyway, Metal Sonic seems to be responding to Sonic's rematch challenge from his defeat in Sonic Heroes. Some think he actually died in Rivals 2 when he tore out the Chaos Emerald (based on what Shadow said), even though he turns up in Generations but as he has his classic appearance there it could be his classic self
So you think Tails wants to be friends with Wave, and you think the best way for him to do that is to name a vessel in another dimension after her that she'll never see? Tails has a generally polite personality, he's no nicer to Wave than he is anyone else, so why do you think he'd name something after her over a close friend such as Sonic or Knuckles? Also, I don't recall an instance in which Sonic refers to Jet outside of the Riders series.
Everything you said there is speculation and therefore pointless to mention.
Metal Sonic doesn't talk, so there's no indication that Metal is responding to anything Sonic said or did. There's no proof that Metal "died" in Sonic Rivals 2 either, even if he did, you're forgetting one import thing: Metal Sonic is a robot that Eggman can simply repair/replace.
You said it yourself. They're all named after water and wind terms. He probably didn't think she'd ever see his waterbike, he was naming them all after water terms and I was just asking if there might have been any particular reason he chose the name "Wave" as the first because it also happened to be the same name as his rival whom he has respect for. I guess you're saying it's coincidence but how come no one else is making any replies here?
Sonic never references Jet again but does that automatically mean he forgot about him?
You do have a point with the Metal Sonic thing. He kinda did die in Sonic CD yet we see Eggman revive him with electricity. As long as there's enough left of him, Eggman can bring him back. And I am personally inclined to think he survived Sonic Rivals 2
Well like I said, it's highly unlikely to be nothing more than coincidence, I just find it odd that you think it's a possible reference to the character. As for why others aren't commenting, I don't know.
I'm not saying that Sonic doesn't remember Jet, but your comment implied that Sonic references Jet outside of the Riders series, or that Jet has some major significance to him.
Maybe it's just coz Wave is one of my favorite characters now (I love the part where she tells Storm that his skills suck) and every time I hear the word "Wave" I think of her
