So, I had a thread about Sonic being confirmed in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. You can read it here. That thread ran for 15 months, a new record for a Sonic News and Updates thread. It went a bit off topic and started discussing more about my Smash Bros. userspace project. And the thread ended up closing down. So the thread continues here! In case you don't know, Project Super Smash Bros. is a project adding Super Smash Bros. characters to Sonic News Network. Specifically the ones playable in both Brawl and Smash 4. That'll be Link, Kirby, Pikachu, Pikachu, Samus Aran, Fox McCloud, Pit, Captain Olimar, Toon Link, Marth, Princess Zelda, King Dedede, Lucario, Diddy Kong, Zero Suit Samus, Sheik, Charizard, Ike, Captain Falcon, Meta Knight, Ganondorf, Falco Lombardi, Ness, Jigglypuff, Mr. Game & Watch and R.O.B.. Why all these characters? Because the rules state that non-Sonic characters can have pages if they appear in two crossovers with Sonic as a main character (and not a cameo). Sonic has appeared in two Super Smash Bros. games and these characters appeared with him. The rules used to state that the crossover characters have to be playable, but was abolished with the Worlds Collide comic and people started making Mega Man pages. My project is still using the old rule because if you take all of the Assist Trophies, Poké Balls and cameos into account, there'd be too much Nintendo. Back in October 2013, when Sonic was announced for the new Smash game, I was so excited and started making articles on the characters that were announced before Sonic. But there were people who didn't want those characters here and there was a huge argument on Link's page which came into a vote. There have been times in the voting where the keepers were in the lead, the deleters were in the lead and some ties. It was a really close one. The main issue were that they questioned Sonic's status as a main character. But really, Smash is a fighting game with no central protagonist. I'd consider all of the fighters as main characters. In fact, players who use one character a lot calls him their main character or "main" for short, so Sonic is a main character to players who use him a lot. One other thing is that Smash 4 wasn't out yet. Now it is. After two weeks, the voting ended with Deletion leading by 5. However, I managed to save the Smash characters in my userspace with permission of Bullet Francisco, the one who strongly supported the deletion. And I've been working on them in my userspace for a revote to get them back in the mainspace. This is not the revote so keep your oppositions to yourselves. I hope I can finish this project in a week or so. Anyway, I'll keep you updated on what's going on with my project.
