So the new PIXELS movie trailer came out:
Books, Football, Hanukkah, and the future, now this? Come on sandler, stop running everything!

Given that the plot states that nothing past 1982 will appear in the film, that means that there will be no Sonic in it, and as such isn't likely an appropriate topic for the wiki. I could be wrong but to my understanding threads have to pertain to Sonic.
Or the gamming industry
EDIT: Knowing how sandler gets it wrong and how SEGA is trying to popularize sonic, he might be in it.
Ruin retro gaming?
Pac-Man's destroying an entire city and Donkey Kong's attempting to murder Sandler and Paul Blart.
I dunno about you guys, but this is, like, every nerd's dream come true.

I'll probably never understand the appeal of taking a cartoony video-game and building a live action movie around it, especially where the inspiration has a story as minimalistic as the life of a pill-devouring popcorn kernel who lives his entire life evading a group of lost souls in an endless void.
This whole movie seems like a rather amateurish attempt to appeal towards the gaming community by spicing up its cheesy, apocalypse-now setting with the likes of arcade-icons from the late 70s to early 80s. The premise is nothing new or spectacular, and the humor just screams lame. Perhaps I'm just not tapping into my inner nerd, since the iconic arcade faces of the late 20th century will likely grab the attention span of plenty of gamers, but as I've already expressed in my statement above, I'm not thoroughly convinced it will be a smash-hit at the box office.
Video-game-based movies have a tendency to score low with me. Not to imply that all of them are completely focused on raiding the average movie-goers wallet, while failing to deliver a satisfying result (Wreck-it-Ralph was a decent movie, I must admit), but after watching this trailer, I cannot help but feel that this is just another cash-grab under the pretense of appealing to the retro-gamer crowd.
I'll probably skip this movie by the time it shows up in theaters. Feel free to disagree with me if you so desire.
