Knuckles using Thunder Arrow on Chaos.
|Statistics and Overview|
A lightning bolt that damages and disorientates the opponent.
Thunder Arrow is one of Knuckles the Echidna's special moves in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. When performing this technique, Knuckles strikes his opponent with lightning bolts. It is performed by Knuckles as a boss in the Dark story, and can only be performed by the player when playing as Knuckles in the games' two-player mode.
When performing the Thunder Arrow, Knuckles thrusts his right fist forward and shouts "Take this". Knuckles will then form several thin, but straight lighting bolts above his opponent, wherever they might be, and bring them down on them. When Thunder Arrow hits, it causes damage to the opponent.
Thunder Arrow can only be performed by the player by playing as Knuckles in the games' two-player mode. In this mode, in addition to causing damage, the attack will disorientate the opponent for a short while by disturbing the opposing player's controls. To use it in gameplay, the player must press the Action Button on the ground after collecting 40 Rings. To use it again, the player has to collect another 40 Rings. In two-player mode, this move is hard for the opposing player to escape, but it can be avoided by using either Dig or Glide to quickly to avoid it.
Thunder Arrow is also performed by Knuckles during the boss battle against him in the Dark story. Here, Knuckles will begin performing Thunder Arrow after his health has been reduced to half, though it is easier to avoid, and serves as his long-range attack.
Appearances in Other Media
The Thunder Arrow move has also appeared several times in the Archie Comics. In this media, the Thunder Arrow is a bolt of Chaos Energy, similar in appearance to the Chaos Spear, but the user summons them in bursts of energy instead of throwing them as spears. It is commonly used by characters that have a strong connection to the Chaos Force, such as Knuckles the Echidna, Enerjak and Edmund, and acts as a Chaos-powered, arrow shaped lighting bolt that electrocutes its victims.
