Knuckles using Thunder Arrow on Chaos.
|Statistics and Overview|
A lightning bolt that damages and disorientates the opponent.
The Thunder Arrow is used during Knuckles's battle with Rouge the Bat on board the Space Colony ARK, but only as a boss in the Dark story. Outside of that, this is one of the technique Knuckles cannot perform in the gameplay of Story Mode, the other being Hammer Punch. However, he can perform it in the games' two-player mode, but only when he has gathered enough Rings.
When performing the Thunder Arrow, Knuckles thrusts his right fist forward and shouts "Take this". Knuckles will then form several thin, but straight lighting bolts above his opponent, wherever he/she might be, before bringing them down on his opponent.
In Story Mode, Knuckles will begin performing the Thunder Arrow after his health has been reduced to half. It serves as Knuckles's long distance attack when the player gets too much distance between them.
In the games' two-player mode, where two players races each other in a hunt to collect most of the Master Emerald's Emerald Shards, the player controlling Knuckles is able to execute the Thunder Arrow. However, in order to gain access to the Thunder Arrow technique, the player must collect at least 40 Rings. Once the player has collected enough Rings, the Thunder Arrow can be performed freely. When the Thunder Arrow hits the opposing player, it will not only cause damage to the target, but also makes the target disorientated for a short while. This move is hard for the opposing player to escape, but it can be avoided by using either Dig or Glide to quickly to avoid it.
Appearances in Other Media
The Thunder Arrow move has also appeared several times in the Archie Comics. In this media, the Thunder Arrow is a bolt of Chaos Energy, similar in appearance to the Chaos Spear, but the user summons them in bursts of energy than throwing them as spears. It is commonly used by characters that have a strong connection to the Chaos Force, such as Knuckles the Echidna, Enerjak and Edmund, and acts as a Chaos-powered, arrow shaped lighting bolt that electrocutes its victims.
During the battle between Super Sonic and Knuckles in his Enerjak persona, Knuckles tried to defeat Super Sonic by hitting him with Thunder Arrow, but could not harm him because Super Sonic was invincible. He later used this technique again, against Dr. Finetivus in a battle with Chaos Energy on Angel Island. The future guardian Edmund from Silver the Hedgehog time line also demonstrated the use of Thunder Arrow when he attacked Prelate-V.
