Turbo Tails is a transformation that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a super transformation of Miles "Tails" Prower, created by using the power of the Chaos Emeralds and the Power Rings.
Unlike most other super forms, Tails' physical appearance goes completely unaltered following his transformation. The only consistent change he undergoes as Turbo Tails is that he sprouts a red cape out of his back.
Turbo Tails first appeared in the middle of Super Sonic and Hyper Knuckles's battle with Master Mogul, where he used several Power Rings given to him by the Ancient Walkers in combination with the vast Chaos energies fired by Master Mogul to achieve his transformation. After having transformed, Turbo Tails began beating back Master Mogul, and was soon joined by Super Sonic and Hyper Knuckles. However, even with two other super forms' assistance and the support from their allies, Master Mogul was too powerful for any of them to overcome. As Master Mogul gloated over his superiority, Turbo Tails used the Chaos Syphon, provided to him by Athair, and began draining Master Mogul of his power. Desperate to overcome the device, Master Mogul began to harness the of Angel Island's two Chaos Emeralds. Turbo Tails tried again to use the Chaos Syphon on Master Mogul, but he was shot by an energy blast. As Master Mogul was following trapped inside the Master Emerald by the Brotherhood of Guardians in a large explosion, Turbo Tails was protected from the blast by his invulnerability, though it forced him back to normal.
Following a failed attempt to reason with the maddened Chaos Knuckles, Tails was taken, unconscious, to his uncle Merlin Prower, who induced his transformation into Turbo Tails to give him a fighting chance against Knuckles. However, the recently freed Mammoth Mogul used his fading powers to intervene, capturing Turbo Tails while he was still incapacitated and replaced him with a duplicate. This duplicate faced Knuckles and lost, and proceeded to take Tails' place in Knothole with no idea of the truth. The true Turbo Tails, meanwhile, was kept unconscious by Mogul and drained of energy for some time after his capture so that Mogul could regain his lost powers. Eventually, Sonic the Hedgehog and the Tails duplicate found Mogul and challenged him, learning the truth of the real Tails from Mogul. After the duplicate dissipated and Sonic defeated Mogul, the true Turbo Tails was freed and reverted to normal.
Unbeknownst to the heroes, however, Mogul had secretly placed a magical mark on Turbo Tails that would later allow him to take control of him and attack Sonic, and the power Mogul stole enabled him to steal Chaos Knuckles' own vast powers sometime later.
The Great Harmony
Turbo Tails appeared yet again when A.D.A.M. kidnapped Tails and Shadow the Hedgehog in order to bring about the Great Harmony, in which every Chaos Emerald in the galaxy was pulled to Mobius by the powers of the two captives. The immense energies of so many Chaos Emeralds transformed Tails into Turbo Tails and Shadow into Super Shadow, and the two joined forces to transport the Chaos Emeralds to the Zone of Silence and thus prevent either A.D.A.M. or Dr. Eggman from getting their hands on them.
Powers and abilities
While in his super form, Tails' innate talents are increased several times over, giving him highly increased strength, speed and reflexes. In addition, he also gains the ability to fly through midair without the use of his twin tails, and is invulnerable to virtually any harm.
As Turbo Tails, Tails possesses a direct link to the Chaos Force, allowing him to manipulate Chaos energy to achieve various feats, such as when he worked together with Super Shadow's Chaos Control to send all the Chaos Emeralds in the universe to the Zone of Silence.
- Unlike other super forms, there is a bit of an inconsistency as to Turbo Tails' appearance. The first time he appeared, his fur was reddish-orange and the cape was blue. For the doppelganger's battle with Chaos Knuckles, and the Great Harmony, there was simply a red cape. As for when Sonic rescued Turbo Tails, Turbo Tails had a red cape and red gloves.
