Description

A green Board type Extreme Gear. Jet's personal Extreme Gear.

The Type-J (タイプ-J Taipu-J?) is a recurring Board type Extreme Gear in the Sonic Riders series. It is Jet the Hawk's character Extreme Gear, exclusively for him, meaning only he can use it, and his default Extreme Gear. It is one of the first Extreme Gears available in every game in the Sonic Riders series.

The Type-J is a part of the Babylon Rogues' own unique series of Extreme Gears, constructed and customized by the team's own Extreme Gear mechanic, Wave the Swallow.

Game AppearancesEdit

Sonic RidersEdit

Quotation1 The Babylon Rogues have their own special series of boards and this mean green Speed Type board is built especially for Jet, the infamous leader. Is it better than Sonic's board? Only time will tell. Quotation2
Description from the Sonic Riders website.
Quotation1 Babylon Standard. Speed type W (Wave). Quotation2
Game description in Sonic Riders.

DescriptionEdit

The Type-J first appeared in Sonic Riders. According to its profile, it is a standard Extreme Gear for the Babylon Rogues. Wave specifically made it for the Speed Type. Due to the Type-J being tuned for the Speed Type character, Jet is an expert at using this Extreme Gear.

The Type-J is designed in Sonic Riders as a basical, yet very detailed, green Board type Extreme Gear. The edge on the front has a stripe of forest green running across it, with one line down the middle, and the edges on the midsection are mint green. The foot plate on the upper surface for the Type-J is also colored cadet grey and slate grey, with a yellow border.

Abilities and TraitsEdit

As a Board type Extreme Gear in Sonic Riders, the Type-J is well-balanced in its attributes with average statistics and an average rate of fuel-consumption, and is suited for general riding.

Like most other character exclusive Extreme Gears, the Type-J does not possess any unique abilities of its own.

Sonic Riders: Zero GravityEdit

Quotation1 Jet's gear, redesigned by Wave. Full of quirks, nobody but Jet could master this peaky ride. Quotation2
Game description in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity.

DescriptionEdit

The Type-J later made a reappearance in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. According to its profile, it has been redesigned by Wave herself. This new version of the Type-J is purposely full quirks, leaving it so only Jet would be able to master it.

In Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Type-J received a redesign that only vaguely resembles its old form. In this game, while still having a distinctive board shape, the Type-J is thicker than it was in Sonic Riders, giving it a more bulky appearance. Also, instead of green, it is primarily colored white, with serveral sleak streaks of green and yellow running along it. It also have purple circular foot pads on the upper surface, and what appears to be orange hover units on the underside of the midsection.

Abilities and TraitsEdit

As a Board type Extreme Gear in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Type-J is well-balanced in its attributes with average statistics, and is suited for general riding.

Like most other character exclusive Extreme Gears, the Type-J does not possess any unique abilities of its own. However, it possesses Gear Parts that can increase its top speed and the amount of Gravity Points it can store, and allow it to grind on Rails.

Game description in Sonic Free Riders.

DescriptionEdit

The Type-J made another reappearance in Sonic Free Riders. According to its profile, it was rebuilt by Wave with a peaky tuning that only Jet would be able to control.

In Sonic Free Riders, the Type-J received a new redesign. In this game, the Type-J gains a much darker color scheme, being primarily colored pigment green. It also possesses large pine green and white accents, and its upper surface is decorated with white and yellow markings and streaks. It also returns to having a more board-like shape like it had in Sonic Riders.

Abilities and TraitsEdit

As a Board type Extreme Gear in Sonic Free Riders, the Type-J is, like in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, well-balanced in its attributes with average stats, and is suited for general riding.

Archie ComicsEdit

Type J in Archie Comics
Jet riding the Type-J in the Archie Comics.

The Type-J has made several appearances in the Archie Comics as Jet the Hawk's personal Extreme Gear, which he always has with him, and was the first Extreme Gear shown in the comics. In this media, it has the same design it had in Sonic Riders.

The Type-J first appeared in Archie Sonic the Hedgehog Issue 163 where it was used by Jet to steal a vapor accelerator from Dr. Eggman to boost the Type-J. Jet was still captured by Eggman, however, but the doctor let him got if he defeated Sonic the Hedgehog, to which Jet accepted. Using the Type-J, which was foreign technology to Sonic, Jet was able to defeat Sonic with help from rest of the Babylon Rogues in their first confrontation. The next day, however, when the Babylon Rogues arrived to destroy Knothole, Jet was attacked Sonic, Knuckles and Tails, who had required their own Extreme Gear. With his own newly required Extreme Gear, Sonic was able to counter Jet's Type-J, and managed to beat back the Babylon Rogues, with the help of Tails and Knuckles.
