The Unleashed Gauge is an energy bar in Sonic Unleashed that shows how much Unleashed power Sonic the Werehog has to go into Unleashed Mode. Unleashed power can be gained mainly by fighting Dark Gaia's minions, or by breaking pots, crates, jars, capsules, or other items scattered throughout the Night-time Stages of the game. When Sonic activates this technique, he is surrounded by a blue aura and his power, strength, and abilities are greatly increased, surprisingly similar to a Super transformation.
Wii & PS2
In this version of the game, the player can use his unleashed power whenever he wants, no matter how much Dark Gaia energy he has. When Unleashed energy is found in items or after fighting enemies, it comes straight toward Sonic the Werehog, unlike the HD counterparts of the game. The color of Unleashed Energy is a light blue in this game.
Xbox 360 & PS3
In this version, the player can level up how much unleashed power Sonic can hold, and there is a certain point in the gauge that must be reached before Sonic is capable of entering his unleashed form. If not, Sonic cannot transform into his unleashed form.
- The Unleashed Gauge and Boost Gauge function oppositely in the two versions of Sonic Unleashed. In the Wii/PS2 versions, the Unleashed Gauge can be used whenever the player wants, no matter how much energy is in it. But the Boost Gauge has to have a certain amount of energy in it in order for Sonic to perform a Sonic Boost. However, this is the exact opposite in the Xbox360/PS3 versions as, in this version of the game, the Sonic Boost can be used whenever the player wants, and the Unleashed Gauge has to have a certain amount of Gaia energy in it before Sonic the Werehog can enter Unleashed Mode.
- The gauge is named after the title of this game. It may also be referencing the fact that Sonic is more ferocious in his Werehog form than in his normal form.
- The Unleashed Bar is similar looks and functions similar to the magic that the character, Kratos, uses in God of War, this game also being a 3D Beat 'em Up like the night stages in Sonic Unleashed
