Video Gaming Economy: What Has Happened?

Okay by the time you read this blog, some users are going to put hate comment on here. But remeber; This blog is what I think what happened to the video gaming economy.

Go back into when the arcades were blowing with players. Pac-Man, Dig-Dug, and Donkey Kong were famous. Today, hardly anyone knows these guys (well, probably Dig-Dug). Then there was the 80's. Boy when video games consoles became popular, the Atari 2600 mess up the video games. Well, not just the Atari 2600, but I forgot some of the console names. When video games became bad and no one was buying video games (like E.T. and the Atari port of Pac-Man) this became known as the Video Game Crash of 1983.

But guess who came to save the day? Nintendo! The NES (or Nintendo Entertainment System) was a HUGE hit and became the holiday's want list. My uncle had one of these machines, but it was sold in a garage sale. Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and others became various hits in the twelve year span of the NES.

By 1991, you know who came (if you don't, why are you even here?). Sonic the Hedgehog! The Sega Genesis was doing bad until Sonic came and Sonic claim the 90's video game industry. By the Sega Saturn era, Sonic went down but when the Sega Dreamcast came, Sonic became again.

By 2000, this is when I think the video game economy went terrible. Sure, Mario, Pokemon, and Sonic were having the time of their life's, but you know what just came and shoved all of them into the corner? Halo. It is one of the best video game series' of all time, according to critics everywhere. But its the reason why Mario is not doing well anymore. Its the reason Sonic is getting less popular and popular. And its the reason Mircosoft is winning the economy.

So what's next? Will Halo win another decade of video game era? Will Mario or even Sonic come back as the stars they've been waiting for? By 2020, we will have the answer.
