Effect listing Edit

Given that for the cases where there is more than one effect, the corrections that you made to the moves where they inflict status aliment for different levels is best fitting. However, for them to apply and equalize with the other articles, then the articles where the moves only has one effect on multiple levels, must be listed like that as well.Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 20:50, January 23, 2013 (UTC)

Okay then. Let me give you an example:

take for example the case of Revolver Slam where it was more than one effect, the way you descripting it would make it look like this:

• Revolver Slam II: Vulnerable I (80% chance)

However, I'm trying to make it more organized. I do not chance the info, I'm just categorizing it.

Now, I'm not saying your way is bad, but it can be more organized. The main reason (in my oppinion) that the listing your describe works in the game is because the info on it shifts between levels. On these articles, however, we have to list all of these different levels at once, unlike in the game, and that might look less appealing. If the move had only one effect, such as the Vulnerable effect in Revolver Slam, it might work. However, other moves do have more than one effect and could give the "bad" listing as I described in the beginning, so I just think that my order is better.

However, if I implement this new type of listing then it does not seem fair, orderly, serious or professional that it only appiles to certain articles, which also have effects on different levels, such as Fastball:

• Fastball I: Sluggish I (30% chance)
• Fastball II: Sluggish II (50% chance)
• Fastball III: Sluggish II (80% chance)

Therefore, if I include the new form for categorizing for Revolver Slam, which is a POW moves like any other in the game, it is only orderly fasion and categorizing to equalize these articles between each other. That would mean that we for Fastball should include the new order:

I'm not saying they appear in a random order. I'm saying that way they are listed in the game work on the game screen, because when you shift between levels, you exchange the info place there, which leaves no issue in terms in the order. However, when it comes to the articles, they kind of order you speak of does not work so well, since we will repeat ourselves in a stream of listed effects that will cause the variants in the info to flow out. I perfectly understand your desire to keep it in the style from the game, but in my oppinion, we also have to realize wheen the order presented in the games does not work on an article and we therefore set them up in a order there are easier for others to comprehend. By organizing it my way, I figure people can undertand the overall topic of these effect better AND THEN go into the depth of the differences, instead of struggling to figure out the differences in a stream of texts.Ultrasonic9000 (talk) 21:34, January 23, 2013 (UTC)

Changing other people's votesEdit

The advice section is advice, not mandatory. People are allowed to vote however they want for whatever reasons they want, but voting for stupid reasons tends to get called up in the discussion section (or just given less weight when people evaluate it). No you can't 'move' them, strictly speaking. I just set my bot to change the categories in all the pages to the new category and then deleted the old version. The word 'move' was just shorthand. -- Supermorff (talk) 20:13, February 2, 2013 (UTC)

Eh... the fact that you have all these default messages in a sandbox for you to pull out at any time is a little scary. But it's quite alright. When I have to give out warnings, I like to make the wording different every time, even if it is slightly slower, because I hate sounding repetitive with my messages. Well that's the reason why it sounds scary - because it doesn't sound human. When I give warnings, not only do I like to be creative with my words each time, but I always try to be as specific as possible on what someone is doing the first time, because it gives me a lower chance of having to give out any further warnings (how hard can it be?). Also, I now only give out a maximum of two warnings before reporting someone, because after the second warning, it's clear they're ignoring you. The message you sent me is the longest I've ever received, so congratulations on that one. Due to its length and the many points raised in some very odd places, meaning it was a chore to trawl through the talkbubble, I had trouble writing this response, but here it is.

• "Trying too hard"... what I mean is that you're going overboard with your activity and those things I mentioned that you do here, and it looks to me like you're showing off. It looks like you're power-hungry. You're giving me the impression you're doing all this stuff just to prove yourself, to give other users more reasons to wish you were an administrator. You don't need to. I'd like you to affirm that this is not the case, if it is not.
  • Right, so you're hyper, are you? And this is your explanation as to why you edit so quickly, is it? I don't like that as an excuse, because your behaviour on a wiki shouldn't be hard to control. However, if that's the way you were made, if that's how you want things to be, so be it; we can't force you to change. Unless you want to be an administrator, in which case, you'll have to.
• "Immaturity". Now this has definitely improved over the months, but sadly, it's still not enough. In serious scenarios such as site discussions, nominations, blogs with a serious nature and the like, you act mature, which is a good thing. "Immaturity" is not necessarily stupidity, but it's mostly acting childish and silly for no reason, including the overuse of jokes, internet phrases and emoticons. For a regular user, it's fine on the chat and on most blogs (even though I find many comments annoying, I can't spoil your fun), because those are designed for being social. However, regardless of this, it looks terrible on an administrator. If you kept making silly comments post-promotion, people would see you as an admin who doesn't take the wiki seriously enough, someone who cares too much for being social.
  • So you want your online personality to reflect your real life personality? There's nothing wrong with that; in fact, you're one of millions who do that. But if you want to be an administrator, then something more than real-life personality is needed.
  • If the "Almighty God" (I'm an atheist, just so you know) is the one who decides when and how you'll mature, he obviously decided it would be gradually, over a long period of time. Until then, it's not enough to become an administrator.
• "Impairing the administrative board"... All our administrators have differing levels of maturity. However, in my opinion, we have a deficiency of users with the highest levels of maturity. No offence, but if you were an administrator, it would be a disaster, and the wiki would plunge into chaos. It would give others the idea that our administrators as a whole are not very serious. Administrators need to take their roles seriously.
• "Arrogance". This generally refers to the previously mentioned scale and speed of what you do here and your attitude towards it - see the final sentence of this comment. It also refers to your garishly-designed userpage and talk page. But perhaps "arrogance" is only a small issue. Perhaps the main thing is "selfishness". Since the beginning, you've done quite a few things to vex me, and this is one of the worst: User talk:141.0.9.75. There I was, giving out warnings to the user, and I was just about to report them to an administrator. But then what did you do? Before I could act, you jumped right in there and gave more warnings, then reported the user yourself! It may have been unintentional, but you stole the credit for what should have been my doing. The worst part? This was before you decided you wanted to be an administrator. Why do you warn and report vandals when you're not going to be able to block them?

That's almost all of what I have to say. There are two very big reasons why I could not support your nomination. One of them relates to Drones' point; that there are too many administrators. Thank you for your response. I understand everything now. So you no longer wish to be an administrator? Well, this may sound surprising, but that's a big shame. I didn't want you to be one right now, but some time in the future... exactly when, I can't specify. I always try to look at the good side of people; you have many fantastic qualities, and those that aren't as good can only get better. And when they do, that's when you'll be ready.

• If you were to run again when this time comes, people would only give a similar response due to there still being too many admins (it's one of the worst things that can happen) and you not being a chat moderator, but other than that, I wouldn't have any other reason to oppose. With that said, I don't want to be a chat moderator either, though for different reasons, e.g. not using the chat very frequently, so I wouldn't need it.
• "Plunge into chaos"... I'll tell you the truth, these aren't my words. It's an exaggeration that was used by the one and only Kyle Baker on Skype. He'd like to see you become a chat moderator, but fears you going any further. I don't think it would be as bad as he described, just not ideal.
• I see... it looked arrogant in the way you wanted to get things done faster when that isn't vital, but it doesn't matter. I respect your opinion and how you approach things. That thing you did, I was only slightly annoyed, actually. And I forgive you for it.
• The "two big reasons"? Neither of them are very fair reasons. The first one relates to the fact that we have a surplus of administrators. If you were to become one, it would mean my nomination would suffer because there'd be far too many. Ever since Kyle told me I was "ready for adminship" when I ran for rollback, I simply can't refuse that goal. I know, it sounds selfish, but in actual fact, I was hoping we both could be admins. All we need is at least two more of them to call it a day. But wishing for that to happen is even more selfish.
• As for the second reason... you'll be glad to know it's not actually mine. It belongs to Francisco, and he was worried that you'd try to take over the wiki or something with your admin rights. But that's rubbish. You'd never dream of doing that, and yet he convinced me that was a good reason to oppose. You can forget about that.
• I may have stated this before, but to see someone suffering like you have been over these past few weeks, makes me suffer equally as much. I hope you feel more comfortable soon, because it makes me sad to know someone is going through hard times. I just hope I, or anyone, will be able to bring you solace... maybe that's the etymology behind my username?

The final paragraph is just what I need. Back when I first began editing here, I was very excited to start, much like you were. Because I was less experienced, and had achieved hardly anything at the time, I was elated at making new friends and learning more, hence I was very social. However, I've grown since then. I've made plenty of friends, have learnt a lot, and now that there's not much more in store for me, everything about SNN seems like less of a thrill, including the social aspect, and so editing is all I ever feel like doing. I'm probably feeling the accursed emotion, nostalgia, for those early days, or even earlier when I was still a reader of this website who was fascinated with this excellent community. It's probably a combination of that and the stressful life I'm leading right now - it's the hardest year for me at school, so I have a lot less free time.

You're right. Everything recently has turned me into an anti-social wreck. This is not what I saw myself turning into. I will try to be more outgoing, more talkative, and an icon of SNN, rather than secluding myself and deliberately getting out of touch with the wiki.

I have a problem because it's yet another item to add to your repertoire of odd jobs that you do around here. This one takes the cake, as I've only ever seen admins do it. The truth is, I'm very concerned. You have so much talent, so much energy, and so much desire to get things done. And in spite of it all, you say you don't want to be an administrator. It's all going to waste.
And that's why I said "why don't you run for administrator" back in February; I didn't really mean it, but at the same time I was so desperate for those great qualities of yours to be put to good use. If you don't want admin rights, then yes, there's no point. It's extremely unusual for mere rollbacks who don't want further rights to do things that only admins do. It never used to be like that. Hello ShadowUnleashed, this is Ultrasonic9000. and there is something I want to disguss and turn over with you.

About the edits to the Skills article, you mention that Sonic and the Black Knight makes use of this system. However, I have examined it on the Treasury and... well its hard to seperate the items in SatBK from those that can be equipped and those that serve as material. Also, the items that does induce an effect seems downplayed due to the fact that they can be mass produced, and that they, well, aren't skills that can be equipped and used physically, but more like items that provides an edge, like the items in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.

What I'm trying to say is, can we really consider the "equipment system" in SatBK to really belong under the Skills article, or should it be considered that those Items doesn't really belong under an article for physical abilities, and deserves more to on the Treasury Article?
