That weird vacuum gun... it looks powerful enough to suck up rings and even small enemies.

— Shadow, Shadow the Hedgehog

The Vacuum Pod[1] (バキュームポッド[2] Bakyūmu Poddo?) is an object that appears in Shadow the Hedgehog. It is a vacuum-type weapon usable by both enemies and the player.

Description[]

The Vacuum Pod has a sharp, triangular body. Its body is greenish gray, and is split into several sections which are connected by purple trimming.

Overview[]

GUPE8P-253

Shadow wielding a Vacuum Pod.

The Vacuum Pod is the only weapon type of its kind in the game, making it unique, and can only be found in certain Stages. They can be wielded by Black Warriors, who will use them against the player.

Vacuum Pods can be dropped by defeated Black Warriors that wield them or released from breakable Containers. Touching one will make the playable character pick it up automatically, and pressing Square/SNNBGAMECUBEDISCO/XboxX (whether on the ground or in mid-air) will fire it. As a vacuum, the Vacuum Pod can suck up various objects, such as Rings, special walls and even small enemies such as Gun Beetles, which can then be fired back to deal damage to other enemies. A Vacuum Pod can fire a total of twenty shots, and once those run out, it becomes useless. However, it can be reloaded with another twenty shots by picking up another Vacuum Pod.

In the Hero Mission in Central City, the Vacuum Pod is necessary for sucking up twenty small bombs. It is also needed to pull out special walls in the various Black Comet Stages.
