The Volkan Cannon (バルカン砲 Barukan-hō?, lit. "Vulcan Gun") is an attack that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is by used by both Miles "Tails" Prower and Dr. Eggman in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. When performed, the user fires a mini-gun at targets.

Description[]

The Volkan Cannon first appeared in Sonic Adventure 2 as one of the standard weapons used by Tails and Dr. Eggman. It is a mini-gun which serves as a part of the weapon arsenal onboard Tails' Cyclone and Eggman's Eggwalker and is mounted on the front of the respective vehicle as a small rifle. When used, the Volkan Cannon fires small, but powerful bullets with great impact straight ahead in front of the user's battle vehicle.

While the Volkan Cannon can be used to destroy enemies, it does not possess a wide targeting system like the Lock-On Missile. It is therefore primarily used to destroy Wooden Containers that block the user's path. After the user obtains the Bazooka/Large Cannon Level Up Item, the Volkan Cannon can fire larger and more powerful bullets and can destroy Steel Containers.

In Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and the 2012 remaster, the Volkan Cannon can be fired on a faster rate due to adjustments in the game engine.

The Volkan Cannon makes an appearance in the Sonic the hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. In this media, it is one of the weapons for the Freedom Fighters' Sky Patrol, though it closely resembles the body of an Aero-Cannon. It was first deployed to destroy the War Walrus when it was sent to destroy the Sky Patrol.
