The Wall Jump Block (三角飛び用壁 Sankaku Tobi-yō kabe?, lit. "Triangle Jump wall"), also known as the Wall Jump Panel,[1] is a gimmick that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a type of plate used to indicate where the Wall Jump is possible.

Description[]

The Wall Jump Block is a black plate placed vertically on a wall. Its edges are outlined in red, and its sides have a pattern of orange arrows pointing away from the wall.

Game appearances[]

Sonic Generations[]

In the console/PC version of Sonic Generations, Wall Jump Blocks appear usually only in the side-scrolling sections of Act 2 of each stage, where they indicate the places where Sonic the Hedgehog is able to Wall Jump. Wall Jump Blocks are also utilized in the Perfect Chaos boss fight. This is also seen in one point of Egg Dragoon boss fight, where Eggman materializes two large walls from the machine to squash Sonic, During that time, the player has to do Wall Jump before Eggman pushes the wall plates together to crush Sonic.

Sonic Frontiers[]

In Sonic Frontiers, Wall Jump Blocks appear as minor gimmicks in both Open Zone areas and Cyber Space stages. Here, their appearance and functionality is very similar to Sonic Generations, as they are only spots where Sonic can perform the Wall Jump. Also during the Open Zone gameplay, Wall Jump Block's panels are depicted having detailed cyan patterns.

Trivia[]

  • The only time Sonic is able to Wall Jump without a Wall Jump Block is a shortcut in the temple area section of Seaside Hill Act 2.
