The Warp Field Driver takes much of the Blue Typhoon. When activated, it generates a "warp ring" on the yellow nose on the bow of the ship and projects it into space as a ring-shaped portal at the size of the Blue Typhoon. Upon passing through this portal, the Blue Typhoon is enveloped in a multicolored aura as it enters warp space, where it can travel at faster-than-light speeds, allowing it to cover great distances on a universal scale in short periods of time. When leaving warp space, the Blue Typhoon either warps into normal space or enters through another warp field. Like everything else on the Blue Typhoon, it was powered by the Master Emerald.
The Warp Field Driver was used by the Blue Typhoon's crew on a number of occasions to travel the galaxy in search of the Chaos Emeralds and do battles with the Metarex. One time, the crew weaponized the Warp Field Driver when fighting the Scarship. Using the device, the crew fired a warp field into the Scarship, weakening its armor enough for Sonic to take it out with the aid of the Sonic Power Cannon.
