This emergency evasion tactic will push back any foe it connects with.

— Description, Sonic Unleashed[1]

Were-Hammer is one of the Skills used by Sonic the Werehog in both the Wii/PlayStation 2 version and the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed. When using this move, Sonic strikes at his target with either a straight blow or a paw slam.

Description[]

Xbox 360/PlayStation 3[]

In the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed, the Were-Hammer is one of Sonic's Straight Attack Skills. When performing this move, Sonic first does two forward and extended jabs with his left and right fists. Then, after the second move, Sonic thrusts his right arm forward in a wide slashing uppercut to the opponent(s). After that, Sonic follows up by swinging his left fist in a wide arch above him and right down on the opponents(s).

The Were-Hammer is available from the start of the game. To perform the Were-Hammer in gameplay, the player must press XboxYXboxYXboxYXboxY/PSTriangleButtonPSTriangleButtonPSTriangleButtonPSTriangleButton in quick succession. In gameplay, the player can control which way Sonic is facing while using the Were-Hammer technique. This attack does greater damage on singled-out enemies but is not very effective against small horde of enemies.

Wii/PlayStation 2[]

Were-hammer Wii

The Were-Hammer in the Wii/PlayStation 2 version of Sonic Unleashed.

In the Wii/PlayStation 2 version of Sonic Unleashed, when performing this move, Sonic jumps into the air while launching a uppercut. While in the air, Sonic then extends and thrusts both his palms into the ground, causing a local tremor and a brief red shockwave. While moving, Sonic's hands leaves a red energy trail. This attack does little damage to the enemies, but it can knock lesser enemies into the air and/or scatter them around the field.

To perform the Were-Hammer in gameplay in the Wii version, the player has to swing both the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck at the same time. To perform the Were-Hammer in gameplay on the PlayStation 2, the player has to press PSTriangleButton. The Were-Hammer can also be performed in mid-air by executing the Were-Hammer while jumping, where Sonic will clench his fists and then slam them down. Doing the same in Unleashed Mode causes Sonic to do a flip that can hurt foes before then slamming his fist down.

Trivia[]

  • The aerial variation in the Wii/PlayStation 2 version is the Werehog's strongest single hit attack.
