Sonic runs circles around his foes, lashing them with a powerful wind attack.

Whirlwind (ワールウインド Wāruuindo?) is a POW move used by Sonic the Hedgehog in the game Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. When performing this move, Sonic creates a whirlwind to attack enemies. This attack is unavoidable, damages all enemies present and deals Wind damage.

Description[]

When performing the Whirlwind, Sonic runs up in front of the opposing enemies and does a Spin Charge. Sonic then enters a Spin Dash and starts circling around all the opposing enemies at high speeds. While circling around the enemies, Sonic stirs up wind currents, thereby forming a vortex of wind resembling a miniature whirlwind, that encloses the enemies. During the creations of wind vortex, Sonic will move increasingly faster around his opponent, forming stronger wind currents and making the wind vortex larger. At the peak of the vortex's size, Sonic will stop spinning and jump into the air in front of his opponents, thus releasing the wind vortex on the enemies. After that, Sonic retreats to his team position.

In gameplay, Whirlwind deals attack damage to all enemies present on the opposing side of the battlefield, while dealing elemental Wind damage. This attack will always hit the opponents, regardless of their stats. The higher the level of Whirlwind is, the more attack damage it will deal.

Real-Time Interaction[]

When performing Whirlwind in gameplay, the player has to complete a series of real-time events by performing certain actions on the Touch Screen, in order to execute Whirlwind optimally:

  1. The player has to touch and stay inside the outer circle that appears when it overlaps the inner circle and follow it in a curve from the bottom to the right side of the screen.
  2. The player has to touch a circle that appears when the outer circle overlaps the inner circle.
  3. The player has to touch and stay inside the outer circle that appears when it overlaps the inner circle and follow it in a curve from the top to the left side of the screen.
  4. The player has to touch a circle that appears when the outer circle overlaps the inner circle.
  5. The player has to touch and stay inside the outer circle that appears and follow it in a curve from the bottom to the right side of the screen.
  6. The player has to touch a circle when the outer circle overlaps the inner circle.

Missing or not touching these circles correctly will result in the damage from the attack being reduced.
