Arriving at the fogged up London Bridge, Yoshi was not able to cross the bridge due to the fog. He later found Sonic and Tails, and explained his predicament. Immediately after though, they were found by Fog Imposters of Shadow and Silver, whom Yoshi challenged when he mistook them for the reals ones. After defeating the Fog Imposters, Yoshi realized they were fake when they faded away. The real Silver and Shadow soon after showed up though, and the gathered group told them what they knew. Soon after, Jet flew overhead. After the group cornered Jet, they convinced him to show them where the local Fog Machine was on the bridge. When everyone got to the Fog Machine however, Bowser Jr. appeared, who was protecting the machine. Yoshi, Shadow, and Silver managed to defeat him however. Shadow subsequently destroy the Fog Machine, which made the fog disappear and causing the bridge to be lowered. After Bowser Jr. then fled the scene, Yoshi decided to chase after him. Some time after however, the fog returned, except now more intense, to London. In response, Yoshi, Silver, Shadow, and Jet cleared the London Bridge of the fog, which the group later reported back to Sonic and Mario about to support them during their showdown with the masterminds behind the fog: Dr. Eggman and Bowser. Yoshi thus decided to join Tails and Luigi's party to help them. When the group later needed to charge the Excitement Battery using the cheers of the audience, Yoshi and Peach teamed up to have a Doubles match with Knuckles and Shadow. Defeating Knuckles and Shadow, Yoshi and Peach's performance created enough cheers to charge the Excitement Battery a little. Yoshi

Yoshi in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Yoshi makes his third appearance in the Super Smash Bros. series as a playable fighter. In this game, Yoshi is a starter character, making him available from the beginning.

In gameplay, Yoshi is a rather heavyweight, but small, character. Despite what his weight might lead others to believe though, he possesses the fastest air speed in the game, with a recovery that centers around the best midair jump in the game. In addition, many of his attacks are tail-based, due to his forward tilt being changed from Super Smash Bros. Melee. He also has a unique shield technique that does not shrink when used, which makes him immune to certain combat strategies. Overall, Yoshi possesses amazing all-around movement speed and speed attacks for his moveset and an amazing jumping ability. He is also capable of breaking free of grabs without getting knocked back in many situations, which is complemented by an amazing pivot grab technique. Also, because of his heavy weight and his average falling speed, he has one of the game's greatest horizontal survivability with above-average vertical survivability. In addition, Yoshi has a nice all-around reach, a great get off move in his jab maneuver, and a surprisingly good counter against air-projectiles with his Egg Throw maneuver. Despite all his advantages however, Yoshi possesses a number of flaws too. Most notable is his minimal options for techniques that he can perform while using his shield technique, as he is the only character in the game that cannot jump out of shields. This is combined with his slow standing grab and poor roll dodge, which makes it easy to put Yoshi under pressure. His recovery also relies too much on his double jump maneuver, which makes him vulnerable to certain techniques. Additionally, he has slow and laggy standing and dashing grabs and a rather large hitbox on his nose that makes it easier to hit Yoshi and keep him away. His power when it comes to KOs are also mediocre due to a lack of efficient finishers amongst his mostly low-powered moveset (not including his smash attack).

In the Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary, Yoshi is one of the many characters from the World of Trophies that got caught up in the schemes of Tabuu and his minions, whom they would work to defeat together.

Yoshi is also featured in the form of a few Trophies and Stickers:

Yoshi in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, Yoshi makes his fourth appearance in the Super Smash Bros. series as a playable fighter. In this game, Yoshi is a starter character, making him available from the beginning.

In gameplay, Yoshi is a short and heavy character. In this game, he maintains his high speed, impressive agility, and great mobility on both the ground and in midair, along with a more upright posture that lessens his hitbox's radius and a considerably faster decent dashing speed. He boasts the greatest default air speed of all the fighters in the game and his double jump is the second-highest in this title and gives him a great deal of armor. His mobility on the ground has likewise been improved. The game's expansion of the utility of Yoshi's moveset also provides him with a number of strengths: his neutral attack and up tilt maneuvers are good for starting combos, his down tilt is useful for predicting or chasing an opponent's recovery in order to attack them before they can react, his neutral aerial technique is great when it comes to approaching or preventing an offstage recovering opponent from reaching the stage, his Egg Lay technique is a normal grab, his Egg Roll move allows Yoshi to force approaches or escape from pressure, his Egg Throw maneuver is an effective projectile, and the Yoshi Bomb has strong KO potential and can pressure shields. Yoshi's KOing options and set-ups has also been improved. In addition, his shield maneuver still does not shrink when used. He can also now jump out of his shield. On the downside, Yoshi still retains many of his weakness. His grab game in this title is also rather bad, with his grab maneuvers being amongst the lowest in this title, and his throws have almost no utility. In addition, in exchange for his increased mobility, his overall damage output has been lowered. Yoshi also lacks much defensive potential, and his sidestep and roll moves are unsafe to use. He is as well unable to drop through a soft platform while shielding, and Yoshi's shield itself is the smallest of all the fighters'. His low traction also greatly hinders his options to performs actions while his shield is up. There are also still problems with Yoshi's KO potential; while his smash attacks, up aerial move, and Yoshi Bomb technique are powerful, they all boast short duration and notable ending lag. Yoshi also has a very short vertical recovery outside of his double jump, since his Egg Throw recovery move gives minimal vertical distance and deteriorates when used excessively in midair.

Each version of the game also comes with their own Trophies of Yoshi:

Yoshi in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Yoshi makes his fifth appearance in the Super Smash Bros. series as a playable fighter. In this game, Yoshi is a starter character, making him available from the beginning.

In gameplay, Yoshi is a medium-heavyweight and short character. In this game, Yoshi's eggs, which are deployed via his Egg Throw technique, can now bounce off the ground. Also, his new Final Smash, Stampede!, has him summoning a herd of different-colored Yoshis to trample his opponents. Yoshi's overall mobility has also been heighted to a greater degree: he now has faster walking, dashing, and air movements. He also possesses a higher initial dash. The changes made to the gameplay mechanics have also benefitted Yoshi's combat potential. This includes a reduced short hop timing, lowered landing lag as a part of his aerials, directional air dodging, and increased attack options in different situations. Yoshi's pummel is also much faster, but weaker as well. Regardless, the overall damage he can inflict on opponents have been slightly improved, and several of his attacks have more knockback to them. Additional, a costume based on Yoshi's appearance from Yoshi's Woolly World is available for Mii Brawlers.

In the Adventure Mode of the game, "World of Light", Yoshi was one of the many fighters (aside from Kirby, who had managed to escape) who got captured by Galeem so that he could clone them and create puppet fighters for evil spirits to control. During the Adventure Mode, several puppet fighters of Yoshi are used for spirit battles. An evil version of Yoshi can be fought and defeated so that the true Yoshi can be awoken and join the fight to defeat Galeem and later Dharkon.

In this game, Yoshi also appears as a few Fighter Spirits, a Primary Spirit and a few Support Spirit with the following characteristics:

In the Wii U version of Sonic Lost World, there is a downloadable Zone based off of Yoshi's Story, titled Yoshi's Island Zone. The location, music and art style are based off the Yoshi's Story areas in Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, and the Red Star Rings have been replaced with Flowers from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Yoshi Eggs are collectible, and bringing them to the goal will hatch the eggs making different colored Yoshis come out of them and grant Sonic 1-Ups.

Powers and abilities[]

Yoshi and his species are famous with their long tongues. They can also do the Flutter Jump which can go higher than Mario's Jump. His Flutter Jump can be done by jumping and running in thin air but in a few seconds, Yoshi can get weary and fall to the ground.

Trivia[]
