If you didn't pick up on it the first time, you won't break free from Zeena!''

— Zeena, Sonic the Hedgehog: Worlds Unite Battles #1

Zeena is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. She is a Zeti and a member of the Deadly Six.

Appearance[]

Zeena is a female lime green Zeti, with a slender upper body that curves out into fairly wide hips. Zeena's upper body is lime green with two black stripes around her waist, while the lower half of her body is black. Zeena's small feet are tipped by small lime green claws, with a third smaller one on each heel. Zeena's tail is thin and curly, ending in a chameleon-like swirl (similar to Espio the Chameleon's tail). Her wrists have black stripes around them while her five-fingered hands are black, each digit tipped by a hot pink nail.

Zeena has long green hair that parts to the right, extending down to her calves. On the left side of her head is a lone curved and striped horn that has an alternating black and hot pink coloration. Her circular eyes are surrounded by black rings and have amber eyelids, while her pupils and sclera are blue and yellow, respectively, and the color of her lips match her eyelids, with small fangs in her mouth.

While aiding Sigma, Zeena began wearing black chest and shoulder armor with the "Σ" symbol on front.

History[]

Worlds Unite[]

Deadly Six Archie

Zeena and her enslaved teammates, from Sonic Universe #76.

Dr. Eggman forced Zeena and her teammates to serve him after discovering the Lost Hex, but their servitude was ended when Sigma destroyed the Cacophonic Conch. Thus liberated, the Deadly Six forced Eggman and his forcibly recruited partner Dr. Wily to serve Sigma's interests, which included equipping them with power-enhancing armor. After Sigma announced his intention to conquer the multiverse using his Unity Engines, the Deadly Six double-crossed him and attempted to control the Maverick tyrant with their power. Undeterred, Sigma activated a failsafe mechanism Eggman and Wily had installed in the armor, putting Zeena and her teammates under his complete control. Zeena was then dispatched to the surface of Sonic's World alongside Zavok and Zor to capture Sonic the Hedgehog while their teammates traveled to Mega Man's World in the year 20XX to capture Mega Man.[1][2] After Sonic Man and M'egga Man set up Unity Engines on their respective worlds and then cured each other, Sigma realized that Wily and Eggman had tricked him. As such, he ordered Zeena, Zomom, and Zazz to hunt down the fugitive doctors.[3]

Zeena fights Amy and Bunnie

Zeena battles Amy and Bunnie, from Sonic Boom #9.

The two escaped with the aid of Xander Payne, and the trio were redirected to join Zavok, Zor, and Zazz in attacking the Sky Patrol with Sigma's Mechaniloid army.[4] Zeena engaged such foes as Bunnie D'Coolette and Amy Rose, who proved formidable even for the enslaved Zeti. Though the heroes managed to defeat the Mechaniloids, Zeena and her fellow Zeti turned the tables by using their powers on the Maverick Hunters and Robot Masters, forcing them to attack their own allies.[5] However, it took all the concentration the Zeti possessed to do so, and they were thus unable to act when Eggman and Wily employed their Egg-Wily Uppity Robot Scrambler Cannon. This device freed the heroes and destroyed the armor controlling and empowering the Zeti. Sally Acorn then ordered the six villains to the brig, but their exertions caused Zeena and her teammates to pass out. They were then taken to the brig by the heroes, who were then forced to confront Sigma's Time-Clone Maverick army.[6] Due to the actions of Xander, both Sigma's trip back in time and Eggman's invasion of the Lost Hex were erased from history, and Zeena and her allies were thus presumably returned home with no memory of the conflict.[7]

Sonic Lost World[]

Zeena Comic

Zeena hunting Mobini, from Sonic the Hedgehog Halloween ComicFest 2013.

At some point in the not-to-distant future, where Dr. Eggman had enslaved the Deadly Six with his Cacophonic Conch again, Zeena and the other members of the Deadly Six were rounded up by Zavok to capture Mobinis for Eggman.[8]

Personality[]

Zeena, like the rest of the Deadly Six, despises the idea of servitude to others, and despite being freed from Eggman's control by Sigma was as quick as her teammates to turn against him and usurp his plans for conquering the multiverse.

Powers and abilities[]

Zeena is uniquely capable of producing green energy cords that she uses in combat like whips, both striking and entangling opponents as well as seizing objects-even ones much larger than her-and using them to strike.

As a Zeti, Zeena has the natural ability to manipulate magnetic fields which she can use to control machines and manipulate metals, though the latter application is limited by how advanced the machine she is trying to control is.[1]

Equipment[]

While in Sigma's service, Zeena wore armor constructed by Dr. Eggman and Dr. Wily. This armor enhanced all her abilities to such levels that she could control even technology from the year 21XX, but it was also equipped with a device that let Sigma control her mind.[1] This armor was later destroyed by the Egg-Wily Uppity Robot Scrambler Cannon.

Trivia[]

  • Zeena is the only female member of the Deadly Six.
